SO MANY CONNECTIONS

Yesterday I visited with my for a couple of hours as I do most Sundays...An old friend of mine came up in the conversation.....I was thinking about him while I was cleaning ...Prawns this afternoon.....we were more than friends for a while and then went back to being just friends....He came up to visit me in his sailboat about 5 years ago after his wife passed away.....He has a new wife now who I've never met......They have been living in Mexico most of the year........I was wondering how he's doing.....sending him love.......

Then tonight when I went on Facebook I had a friend request from someone whose name rang no bells.....and the friend I was thinking about was the only friend we have in common. I went to check out her profile, curious about who she was........I looked at her friends list and things got spooky.........I couldn't believe it.....most of her friends had at least one friend in common with me, which isn't that strange, but the friends we have in common don't know each other. Some of her friends are even friends with some of my relatives....

After a while I felt spooked.....then I felt close to tears for the sheer beauty of it.....I couldn't stop looking and the intrigue continued. She had friends who were friends with my friends who live in different places and who I'm sure have never met each other, and their only connection was that they are my friends......Maybe I'm not explaining it well, but just for instance, one of her friends had 3 friends in common with me and none of them know each other....... One is my local political rep, another is an artist in Vancouver and one is my nephews wife........Amazingness.

I get strange FB friend requests all the time. The catfish are easy to figure out. The mutual friend is one of my female friends and all they have is women friends. They identify themselves as widowed and too good to be true. I have gotten a few females that I wasn't sure about. If my instincts say something is not quite right, I listen to that instinct. I've accepted a few and quickly blocked them after figuring out what they were all about.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this person or the connection.......'m saying it's amazing.....She has friends that are old friends of mine that I haven't seen for 40 years and live far away......It's like we moved in the same circles for 50 years but somehow were never in the same place at the same time......I'm saying it's awesome and strange......and sort of magical......

I ignore most of the friend requests I receive, other than the ones I know and feel I can trust. Some are very persistent too, I always give those a wide berth.

It's great when you make contact with a long lost friend or acquaintance for sure.

People often used to say, "Well, it's a small world." and I think we see that even more on the internet. I've heard stories of people finding old friends and long lost family members through contacts like this. Maybe that why they call it "the web", because it connects us through round about paths.
Will you pursue reconnecting with some of those folks?

I am still connected with "those folks".......They are my facebook friends...When you go through someone's "Friends" list on FB, it shows you how many friends you have in common and when you click on that, it gives you the names of the friends you have in common. Most of her friends have friends in common with me.....a great many different people from many different geographical and social circles......Yes, it is a web.....I could draw a diagram.....I have seen computer programs that automatically show the connections.....sort of like a family tree.......I was just blown away by the obtuse angles.....
