HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM CANADA....

The sun coming up through the trees outside my bedroom window this morning.......a definite crispness in the air.......We won't be having our usual extended family gathering this year, we will have to practice Gratitude at a distance. We had a family pow-wow on Saturday....we have been spreading out the lawn-chairs and hanging out with each other, but this time was shorter, as we all felt a bit chilly.......

In spite of the weirdness and the restrictions of this time, I'm so grateful for the support of my family, community and the provincial and federal governments who are all working together to keep us as safe as possible......and I'm especially grateful for Universal Healthcare.......

Happy Thanksgiving. A sense of security/belonging within the broader community would give rise to gratitude I would think, particulary with the crisis raging rampant over the Canadian border.

Beautiful bedroom view. I was struck by how the image reminds me of an impressionist painting (Monet sprang to mind).

There's something about horizontal light .....painters like Monet were all about the light.......The first and last hours of light.....the "golden hour" or the "poet's hour"......all horizontal........when the magic happens......when the world is gilded by beauty.......

Universal healthcare as a Human Right is an equalizing and binding factor......when you go about your day and everyone you see, the teen-age stock boy, the cashier, the waiter, the mechanic, the lawyer, the pregnant mother, all of them......all of us, receive the same health care......there is a feeling of all of us being on the same side even though we may have political and ideological differences......there is agreement on that.

It must be very scary for the people of the US right now......all that chaos .....

A belated TG to you Sparkle! I too spent TG by myself. Our health minister Dr. Bonnie Henry was really advocating that we keep our Thanksgiving celebrations limited to our household. As I am only 1 person in this household it was just me.
I too am thankful for healthcare which is free and our government who has worked hard to keep us safe. Keeping the distance and wearing a mask is what you have to do.

Nice to hear you had your family around and enjoyed Thanksgiving. I love the view from your bedroom window, a calming piece of nature in the morning. Stay well in these strange times.

Today I met with a group of friends at a ....sea-side park. I hesitated to get my big wooly sweater out of storage. I went to the garden to test the temperature, I jut didn't trust my inner thermostat.....Only the middle of October, surely its not that cold, but I threw my big knitted shawl in the car before I left home. At first we went for a brisk walk and worked up a sweat......but then we sat on logs on the beach and chatted and before I knew it, I fetched my shawl......Several of my friends were wearing warm hats and .one had even brought gloves. When I got home, I cranked up the thermostat and made a cup of tea and drank it before I took my sweater off.......So, apparently, Summer is over.......Now it's pouring rain......It's going to be a lonely Winter.
