Well, looks like twins are orphaned.......We haven't seen their mother since the dead doe was found. She was always near them before that.

Just some photos from today's walk......

I did see an old friend today out of the blue.We haven't seen each other for several years. She's been building her business in Cambodia. When she was a teen, her parents adopted 2 baby girls who were orphaned during the Pol Pot disasters there. She sold her successful restaurant in BC and built a resort in Cambodia to employ women who were forced to become sex workers and caters only to women.
.

She's been there for 15 years now and her business.is thriving. The Cambodian women she has trained were ready to take over and she flew back here just before Canada shut down.........She has been quarantined at her place near here, that has no internet, so she was going to spend a few days in a hotel so she can communicate with her staff in Cambodia and her sons ........

Anyways, she was driving to the ferry and saw me on the road and we had a tearful reunion and spent an hour talking.......So wonderful to see her........

That first news is real sad. Do the twin fawns still show up daily, don't they need lactation of the doe? - Meeting your friend by surprise after so many years must have brightened your day. How is the travel situation now from Canada to foreign countries?

    Quoting  :

We haven't phoned wildlife rescue. They have been browsing on their own for at least a month....I'm sure they will be fine food-wise, but I think they are in more danger from predators without their mother watching over them. Human interference puts them in more danger. Some people feed deer apples or carrots and get them used to Human contact, but that makes them more vulnerable to predators. Also, sometimes dogs will form a pack and harass deer, especially fawns. Letting your dog roam is very frowned upon. There are a lot of deer on the island and we hunt them on the wild Northern part of the island, I have Venison in my freezer.

The fawns are old enough to get their own food at this stage, though they were still nursing now and then.

I have spent quality time with that friend many times since she's started her business in Cambodia. We have also stayed in touch online, but she wasn't responding to texts and seemed to have disappeared....I was concerned for her...

I'm not sure what the travel situation is ...Canada is closed to international travel from most countries at least until the end of July, The Canadian border is closed to all American travelers .

Very sad news indeed. I hope the little baby fawns will survive ok on their own.

What a lovely surprise for you meeting up with your friend like that after such a long time.

Love the beautiful flower collection, really nice and cheerful.
