SUPERVISED MESSENGER ACCOUNTS....

I miss my granddaughter so much and I see others here expressing the same. My grandkids are locked out of the internet except for educational sites, but this quarantine has changed that......My discovered a supervised messenger app on FB Messenger. Parents have access to all correspondence and have to approve all contacts.

We're really enjoying this new way to communicate......She sent me a photo she took of her mom that she distorted and I commented......"Wow, you made your mom look like a witch.....every 's dream".....and she answered "I know, right?" and a giggling emoticon.....and we were off. She's making a movie and sends me her latest clips for critique.....LOL.....

I think this might help other grands who are quarantined from their grands......

It's called "Messenger Kids" on FB.

My daughters all get together for a face chat on something called Zoom, and one of them told me that her kids' teachers communicate with the students that way too. I think it's a program you download and then use the camera and microphone on your computer or smart phone for real time, face to face.
If parents start the chat, then the kids could step into the screen and talk to grandma too.

I know, my grandaughter did that with her best friend who was on a 2 year sailboat trip......They also do it with their other grandparents, but they hate it....they find it really awkward.....when they were younger they would say hi and then slip away. I see my grandkids almost every day, 2 meters apart, yesterday one of my grandsons and I sat on the lawn and talked for an hour or so, but they are not really into just sitting there and talking.....t

Yes, that's the way families or friends or groups are communicating now.

It's the next best thing to seeing our loved ones in person. I'm in touch with my son and grandson most days on Messenger. It's a fantastic way of keeping in touch.

I realized the grandkids dont need me to be up to date with their activities, they just expect me to be me and chat with them the same way I do when they call to the house.I think the older persons views and ideas still matter to the young.
