ANARCHY.....

Paul Feyerabend, international philosopher of Science, is making a reappearance in thinking .....I first made his acquaintance in the late 60's ...and his concepts have intertwined with philosophy since then.

I just came across a quote of his that I had printed by hand on art-paper and posted in a show of art-work in the 90's......I can't even remember what paintings were in that show, but .......well, Feyerabend's words spoke anew and I included them in a I made for 's 45th birthday. I needed that injection of anarchism......how we can't move forward without it, getting stuck in our way......trudging along in habitual paths.....

"Ancestral memory as a physical phenomena that exists as an environmental component rather than as a discrete brain trace...... The possibility that our minds and memories are non-specific us as individuals but are part of a resonant fabric that informs our psychology and morphology."

Yesterday I was at the Market where I often sell my work. I didn't have a table because I would have had to be there at 7 in order to get a table, but it doesn't open until 10......It takes me 15 minutes to set up, so a 3 hour wait and then sitting there until 3.......I've been too busy lately, up early out all day, out for dinner, late evenings.....whew, too much for this old gal.

Anyways, I have been selling a lot of the crocheted leaves I have posted photos of here......I made over 300 of them and sell them for $10 each, and they have been flying off the table........including by mail.......people keep telling me they are perfect for placing in a card......

There is this man who I'm just getting to know, who is also an artist.....I'm a bit wary....mostly because he reminds me of my x-husband......even has the same name........Anyways, I have this thing about being a has-been artist because I haven't had a show for several years.....I no longer have a studio where I can work large paintings.......and now with these crocheted leaves......which several people have referred to as 'doilies".......I'm thinking....."Oh my god, I used to be an artist and now I'm a granny crocheting doilies"........And that self-concept has been eating away at me.......

And this man with my husband's name.....this artist who used to be an engineer told me he considers the leaves to be Art.....He told me that he sent his x-wife one of my leaves tucked into a card.....the first gift he has given her since they split a decade ago......and it felt really good and she phoned to thank him and they had their first friendly encounter.......

Well, that just lit up this maker's heart..... I can be old and decrepit and still make art ...........

Lulu..It is great when you create something and a person really appreciates it. I think that is the one thing that all artist have in common. The one thing about being old that I like(I am old) is that I can still create art. The best part is that it still sells.

Creative Ideas.

Yes, very true.......It's challenging to keep up with my own aging, LOL.....learning to co ordinate physical challenges with my artistic vision.....sometimes requires leaps and bounds and sometimes a macabre dance...

I know.....very esoteric. He was a professor and most of his books are based on the reader having a thorough knowledge of the history of Philosophy and all the terminology.......He taught in many languages as well, and some of his work is translated to English.....A lot of it goes right over my head. Most of what I have gleaned from Feyerabend is quotes and interpretations by others in the field.....or adjacent fields. I have a friend who is a professor of Sociology in New York, who keeps me busy trying to understand what the hell he's talking about.....
