Interesting and plausible deduction. I'm not much into touting any particular group's accomplishments, but when they have been ignored because of being of a certain group, I can understand the push for recognition. TOMORROW I WILL BE ATTENDING A LECTURE ON FEMALE AUTHORS AND A WEEK FROM TUESDAY A LECTURE ON FEMALE PAINTERS AND PLASTICIENS. IT SURE IS TIME WE TALKED ABOUT WOMENS' CONTRIBUTIONS NOT ONLY TO THE ARTS BUT SOCIETY IN GENERAL; Slowly, but surely.......My own work, which has consistently been woman-oriented, has been censored a lot in the very provincial milieu where I live....I recently came across some of the " feed-back notebooks I always put out in my shows and many people were scandalized.....my work deemed inappropriate for a public space etc...... what was so scandalous? Hints of menstruation, or vague references to it....references to birthing, and, horror of horrors, women with a baby at her breast..... I met a man who taught "Women's Studies" at a college.....I asked him why a man was teaching it and he said it was because there was no qualified woman......Three steps forward, two steps back .......
