Garlic and Savoury Butter..... My is an avid gardener.....He gives a lot of produce and yesterday was no exception.......I went home with 2 bulging bags of magnificent produce. He included several Elephant Garlic bulbs......they are milder than the garlic in the stores.....and much bigger. He also picked an herb called Savoury. I rarely use it, so I declined, but he strongly suggested I chop it finely and several cloves of the garlic and simmer them up in some butter and serve it over steamed veggies.....Scarlet Runner beans, new potatoes, baby Summer Squash, baby carrots.......I took a few photos of the garden.....The butter was the perfect touch..... |

I have used savory in bread stuffing. I have never heard it used with garlic in butter but it sounds good. I am a great one for using herbs on vegetables. Dill is one of my favorites along with Basel. Rather than making heavy sauces I prefer herbs to enhance vegetables or meat and fish. Your son has a wonderful garden.

Yes, Herbs.....I use lots of herbs too.....I've been putting basil in the blender with just olive oil and freezing that in muffin tins and see how that works out. I used to make pesto and freeze it, but the last few years I ended up throwing out a lot of it......This way It will be more flexible.....

I made a spaghetti sauce tonight and used vegetables onion, zucchini, fresh tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, green pepper and jalapeno. I used basil and oregano for the herbs along with plenty of garlic. There was no meat in it. I actually prefer a spaghetti sauce that is vegetarian. Grated Parmesan was the protein.
