I took British Lit in college. One of the books we had to read was Frankenstein which was written by Percy Shelley's wife Mary Shelley.

Actually, Poetry is a form of MAGICK!!!!!

It is also used by folks in the Pagan community to distinguish the difference between magick done in a ritual and magic parlor tricks. There are many different theories on why it works. Affirmation and Visualization can strengthen the subconscious to manifest a desire into reality. Poetry can be a form of affirmation. Keep reciting a poem long enough and you might attract some of the elements of that poem. This can also work with Psalms, and Bible verses. I've done it. If you light a candle chanting the poetry, that is visualization that strengthens the affirmation. You may be of the opinion that poetry is not magick but other people have different prospectives.

Actually, if you ever read the book, Frankenstein, it runs deeper than just about monsters. It covers science used for the wrong purpose, being different without a choice, rejection because of the difference, loneliness. It's like any other book where there is symbolism and messages.

I became familiar with the works of Percy Shelley when I took British lit in college. My initial thought was "This is the most useless course that I will ever have to take in college," but ultimately it was more interesting than I thought it would be. Percy and his wife Mary used to picnic at the graveyard. That was not unusual during that era. The book "Frankenstein" written by Percy's wife has certainly made more of a historical impact than most of Percy's poems on LOVE. She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; by Lord Byron from my British Lit Class
