I noticed that there were a few community gardens and chicken coops with padlocks on them. It reveals that people are trying but need support. Some of them don't feel a lot of hope in their lives. Conservatives have good work ethics. All I have to do is take a look at West Virginia to figure that one out.

Other problems that blighted communities have is lack of literacy. Cummings should use some of that money that is being sent to build a center to mentor the young, improve education I've seen this in Washington D.C. communities. The Quakers have workcamps where young people from privileged backgrounds work with young people in the blighted neighborhoods for clean-up, renovating buildings, and building community gardens. The Churches actually get together to mentor the youth and provide tutoring. Both groups come out of the workcamps with new attitudes and more hope.

When people do something good for others, there are usually some who will question their motives.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
