I once had time

I ONCE HAD TIME

I once had the time to watch a flower grow
In standing’s wait on a cold Winter’s day
I saw the face of it peep out from the snow
And watched the joy of it in smile’s display

Out from the warmth of crusty earth’s bed
Stretched the flower, in a yawn to the sky
Then it opened petal’s hat, to halo its head
And wave to its siblings, who grew close by

I once had the time, to watch a flower grow
To lift its slim body, in a raise to its height
Full aware of its roots, in the hard earth below
A Snowdrop reached up and sought the light

Should you feel the hard, and time runs slow
Then stand by me to watch a Snowdrop grow

Thank you, I enjoyed this poem. Am reminded a little of Wordsworth's 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' which is amongst my favourites. If I may quote the first verse -

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Lovely poem Ron. I always feel at peace in a beautiful garden.

Ah, dear Maudie... How lovely to see you and thank you so much for your comment. Indeed, a beautiful kept garden is a scented sanctuary, peaceful in all times...
