I have often heard black conservatives in the walkaway movement refer to the Democratic Party as "the plantation."

The Democratic plantation is a reference to the Democratic party’s use of public policy that is intended to establish a voter base that is completely dependent on them remaining in power. At the same time that the Democratic party is building a voter base that is dependent on the party remaining in power, that same base is not adequately enabled through said public policy to lift themselves out of impoverished conditions and break the cycle of dependency. In other words, the concept can be summarized in the following statement:
Just enough to need to them, but never enough to no longer need them.

Star's comment is right on...... I hope that people of all colors wake up and see that any political party that promises people so much "free" stuff is only trying to enslave them to that party.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

A few years back, when Obama was President, I was in D.C. lobbying about a Foreign Affair issue. My lobbying partner was savvier on the topic than I was. Later, we received a message that the Senator himself wanted to meet us. My partner was leaving on the day that he was available but I was going to be in town that day, so I kept the appointment anyway with plans to talk about another topic. West Virginia's drug problem. I was partnered with a beautiful young black woman from the Quaker Lobbying organization. She talked about mass incarceration, sentencing reform, and racial justice with a Sentencing reform bill. Several congressional representatives and senators ended up sponsoring the bill. All seem to be onboard regardless of the party regarding dealing with the drug problem nationwide. Trump signed a bill into law regarding sentencing reform last year. This resulted in the release and practical support of countless mostly black inmates. I am very happy that the young black woman that I lobbied with is now in Medical School. Bravo!!
