Just noticed my last blog was in January. Guess I was gone longer than I thought.

Darker has been Mia. No one is certain what has happened.
Glad to hear you are well but busy. It is always nice when people stop to say hi!

Thanks for letting me know Twilight, his blogs were always something to look forward to. Sometimes I wish we could all live closer to each other to help each other out, but that's not the case here.

I hope all is well with you.

Hello again ! Nice to see you back on this site, Nile. I have also been busy and did not post any blog till this week. We had a lot of rain, and I could not finish all the work outside. But there is enough work in the house.

Hi Nile, hope you got some chicken protection planned? Birds of prey, foxes etc, are not fun when they strike. Wishing you all the best for your project.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

That's only a couple of months ago, I really hope he is working on his health and will show up again someday soon.

As far as my birds go, I need an army of them to keep the grasshopper population down. Slowly getting rid of the crazy Leghorns and working on having only the Easter Egger chickens, you know, the birds that lay the blue/green eggs. Calmer birds, not so flighty.

Nice to see you back too Myseek! The rain is needed, but I wish it didn't have to come all at once! My youngest daughter and I have been clearing a path to the back of the property, that's where she wants to build her home. Seems like she is trying to escape the world wanting to live way back there, it is a lot of work, but it's nice! Lots of trees, a creek, and far from the road.

Hi Hermit! I know about predators, they've been a constant battle here for over 20 years! When I can't be outside, the birds have a fenced area with chicken wire covering the top, keeps my birds in and hawks out. The only way something can get to them is to dig under the fence. When I'm working outside, I let them free range to eat all the bugs they want. A snake did get into the coop last week and ate some eggs, but it didn't live long.

Nice to see you again Nileyears. Never seen blue eggs from a chicken. When I was growing up we had leghorns and only white eggs. They provided a lot of eggs for us to eat and fo y mom to bake with. Keep on trucking Nile!

Hi Shar, nice to see you here!

Growing up on a farm we had 300 Leghorn chickens, it was my job to take care of the birds, wash eggs and pack them in cartons for the distribution centers my grandpa used to sell them to. Dog gone, that was 6 decades ago, but the memories are still there.

I've always kept Leghorns as part of my flock because they are great egg layers, but decided to add Araucana chickens last year. I had some Araucana and Jungle fowl mixes about thirty years ago and decided to get them again last year, now I'm going to concentrate more on them than the Leghorns. Calmer birds and their green eggs, which they say are blue but look more on the green side to me, are delicious!
