Nothing like waking up in the morning and waiting for the coffee to brew! Aahhh, that first cup of coffee is always the best, until it isn't! Walked back into the kitchen after waiting ten minutes to find the coffee maker light on, but no coffee in the pot. I shut it off and restarted it. Nothing! Pump is gone! It worked fine yesterday and everyday for the past two years. Why doesn't anything last these days? Not one drip coffee maker has ever lasted more than two years. I pulled out my old faithful percolator that my Mom gave me years ago. She bought this little pot for her traveling days, you know, the days long ago before they started putting coffee makers into hotel rooms. She named this coffee pot Speedy because it makes a pot in 2 minutes, which says six cups, but according to my measuring cup, it's actually only 4, but hey, I have a couple cups and make another pot. I got online to look for another coffee maker made in the US, but there are only a few and the only drip coffee maker made in the US is BUNN. What happened there? So I looked for another percolator like mine, but double the size, and they are now also made in China since 1997. So no, not buying another Farberware pot either, so I guess I'm going to get a BUNN. Expensive, but I have heard they last along time. Now should we ever lose our power grid, I do have a couple coffee pots I use for camping and probably enough coffee to last a couple years. I love my morning brew, can't start the day without it. Well, I could, but chose not to.

Nothing seems to last like it used to.....

We have a classic all glass 1950's percolator we keep for friends who drink coffee. Neither of us do but I keep coffee frozen in the fridge.

I was tired of coffeemakers that didn't last and I really didn't like the thought of the buildup between cleanings either, so years ago I started using the pour-over method. No coffeemaker needed. Fast prep. Tastes great!

I know that "serious" coffee drinkers will groan and laugh at me, but I like coffee but not the brewed or drip kind..... I use instant. One of my daughters used to keep a coffee maker under my cabinet for when she or the others were here, but one day hers went bad and she took this one home with her. I'm getting ready to get a new set of pots and pans and not quite sure which ones I want. They can't be real heavy, so I'm leaning towards the kind I have had for several years. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Keurig here. it holds about a gallon of distilled water. exceptionally fast no mess. Just press the button for cup size. It fills the cup. Even I can make coffee. LOL And of course the wife keeps about 8 different brands on hand. The amaretto is terrible. LOL

I've had the same French Press coffee maker for over 20 yrs. I buy the coffee from a local roaster (Lola Savannah) , who will roast it to your personal preference...if you order at least 4lbs at a time (which I do). I've got a good coffee bean grinder, and grind up a week's worth at a time. I use 2 scoops of coarse grind for making the coffee...have an electric water kettle. It takes about 5 minutes to boil the water (while I'm taking a shower), which then get poured into the French Press. It then steeps for about 4 minutes, I push down the plungers and ...VOILA!...great tasting coffee to start my day.

I rarely have coffee in the morning anymore. I was finding it too acidic. I would rather wait till the afternoon and go out for a cafe latte. Most days I have Earl Grey tea in the morning. I have a coffee maker but rarely use it. I keep coffee beans in the freezer. So if I decide to have a coffee in the morning it is instant. I use Nescafe Taster's Choice Classic. It almost tastes like brewed coffee.

I hate brewed black coffee, just can't drink it at all. A nice latte is my coffee of choice. I always treat myself to one when I go out. I love my cup of tea first thing in the morning, and several more throughout the day. I also enjoy lemon and cranberry green tea. Niles, they sure don't make things to last anymore. You are so right, light bulbs last no length at all. I'm sick and tired replacing ours. There was a time when you could get your broken items repaired, that seems to be a thing of the past too.

I HAVE BEEN USING FILTER COFFEE MAKERS OF THE SIMPLEST KIND FOR YEARS AND YEARS. I BUY CHEAP AND THEY LAST MAY THREE YEARS OR SO. I WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ONE OF THOSE NEWFANGLED ONES WITH MULTIPLE POSSIBILITIES.

My perculator always reminds me of coffee over the campfire. It has been around for ages and still ready to go whenever required. Not much is made in the good old USA anymore. Even many things they would like us to believe are.

SIMPLE FIX Take all screws out of bottom. remove it Remove 2 screws holding heating element stationary. Pull it to the side without removing wires. There will be 2 plastic hoses One of the hoses will have a round ball (valve inside. Take that hose off by squeezing the wire hose clips. Dissolve the calcium deposits that clogs the hose. perhaps with vinegar----reassemble. Be sure to rember which end of hose goes the proper way. blow on each end of hose.---------one way air will escape------the other way the ball will seal the hose-------so do not get it bassackwards. LOLOL Good Luck Being a lady you will probably need it LOLOL No, No, that was just a joke LOLOL Party On!
