The snake wasn't very big, maybe two feet long. The only way it could have gotten into the breaker box was through the conduit. Still quite a feat climbing up through all that wiring.

A two footer is nothing out here, just glad we got it out before it really fried and stunk up the house.

Hugs!!!

OMG!!!! Oh, the joys of country living. At least you found it and got it removed. Can you imagine the stench if it hadn't created a problem and you found it?
Once in awhile, we have an odor, like now, and can't find the source. It's probably a dead mouse under the floor or in the wall somewhere. I vote for under the floor or in the crawl space because I can't pinpoint it like I would if it were in the wall. This too will pass, but until it does, it drives me nuts.

Do you know the difference between a Snake and a Goose ?

A snake is an ASP in the GRASS.

Oh yes, so much joy!! Dead snakes smell worse than a dead mouse, makes you want to puke, but so far, haven't found a dead one in my house except for the one in the breaker box. The smell of a dead critter like a mouse stinks, but doesn't last too long. I had read once that a mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime.

I'm in Texas, and I'm sure there are a lot of snakes out there, but have only had close contact with a few. Up close and personal.

Wow Tx, you were lucky! Didn't you have a main circuit breaker in the original breaker box, or didn't they have them back then? I have one outside under the meter and another in the house, good to have if you need to shut the power off. When I think back to the 70's though, I still remember those glass fuses they used to use, we also called them fuse boxes back then. Now I'm curious as to when they started putting master circuit breakers in. Guess I'll look that up.

Tell your stories, I'd love to read them

I have a story about my old pickup catching on fire, LOL. That was a fun night!

LOL, that is so funny Maudie! I thought of St. Patrick when you commented on my last blog that there were no snakes in Ireland.

LOL, I wonder if a St. Patrick's medallion would work on the chicken coop?

I think you're safe from the snakes, but have you ever seen how fast a snake can climb a tree? Amazingly fast!!
