We had a quiet, uneventful day and evening, although I did spend a lot of it on the phone with some of my daughters. As is usual for the whole 4th of July weekend, we could hear fireworks in the distance, but we didn't go watch any of them. Our neighbors kept it up until after midnight both nights. That's more than one neighbor, but they are across the fields so the sound is muffled by the time it gets to us.
I lost my enthusiam for fireworks after Yellowduck got burned real bad when one exploded out of sync and hit him in the face. That was a nightmare for all of us at a friend's home in KY that year, and for him with weeks of recovery and damage to his eyes.

We've been hearing and seeing fireworks throughout the week. We can also see some of the county firework shows out in the distance. Not all, only those that make it above the tree lines.

I didn't know Yellowduck got hurt, that's horrible! I don't buy the big ones, just bottle rockets, Roman candles, Saturn missiles and things like the bees and flying saucers, and only light one at a time. Not even going to mess with the big stuff!

lol, glad you had so much 4th July fun! You know how to make your own fun and your Mexican neighbours certainly made the most of the celebration by partying well into the morning

Is that why Yellowduck always wore sunglasses?
No, he was wearing those sunglasses when we first met him. I think it's a guy vanity thing because I've known other men who always wear them.

Glad that you were able to celebrate. The rain ruined the fireworks in our area.

Thanks Lilium! Yep, my neighbors know how to put on a party and they love any kind of celebration. Makes me wish I was 30 years younger.

Well that stinks! We had some rain, which I was grateful for because I worry about grass fires, but none last night.

Some local resident Americans were holding a July 4 celebration at a nearby community center. If I had known I would have attended with my MAGA hat.
