Great Blog! Did you ever feel like going out of your home to walk in the rain for a change? Believe me, Nileyears, getting out to walk in the rain is the best way to connect with mother nature! Take care, Be safe.

Thanks Looklook. Yes actually, I have been out in the rain everyday that it has rained. Farm animals don't care what the weather is doing, they need to be fed and taken care of. Aw yes, Mother Nature is so wonderful.

I've seen 3 or 4 tornadoes in my lifetimes.... thankfully, all were small and dissipated fairly quickly. One did reform about 20 miles down the road and destroyed a barn.
We are expecting some rain tonight and then perhaps more severe storms Thursday. I hope the rain does come earlier today though because I have some plants that desperately need it and it is quite a chore for me to go out there and water them.
I have another friend in Texas, and she also said the rains have been unrelenting all month.

I have a very high respect for tornadoes after being in a few here and even traveling through other states. Four days after I moved here a tornado went through the middle of my property, another picked up a panel and used it to slice one of my 4x4 fence posts in half, and wiped out one of the horse shelters in the pasture. No horses were injured. Another tornado on the east side of my home took out some trees and the horse shelter that used to be in the front pasture, then it crossed the road and took the roof off my neighbors barn. The one I posted a picture of sounded like rumbling thunder that never stopped, now imagine that sound going over your head, or close by. Oh, and that's the same tornado that reformed and flipped 3 semis on I-35 just south of Waxahachie, Tx. Believe me Pat, I am so done with this rain right now and I know your friend here is as well. I am thankful that this past week the storms haven't been severe, flooding is the main problem right now. All in all, I've had 9 close calls with tornadoes.

Ireland is set for one of the wettest months of May on record, dreadful month of rain, staying rather cold too. Fingers crossed we will get some kind of decent summer.

Nice blog Nileyears, enjoyed the read.

Hi Maudie and thanks!

Wet and cold there too? Well, it's not what I would call cold here, but the rain has kept our temperatures down in a more comfortable range. With the month of June around the corner, the heat comes with it. When is the best time to take a trip to Ireland? I'm hoping to get there someday, it's on my bucket list.

I remember living in Indiana and we had a tornado. It didn't go where we lived but a couple of miles away it tore up houses, uprooted trees, tossed cars, etc. We were spared but rather scary at the time. A friend of my ex husband watched the tornado go down the road in front of his property. He said he just watched it and figured if it was his time to go, ok he was ready.

My galfriend and her husband were visiting us. She and I drove to a town about 1/2 an hour away. We were stopped as we turned to go toward that town. We explained where we were headed. He said ok but do not go to the right as the houses were torn up and gone! One house right in the middle was still standing!!! A church was taken completely and a few women were in the basement at a meeting. They were down in the basement of the church and had no idea what had happened as it was apparently sound proofed and had a door that was closed. They were shocked when they came up from the basement.

We did go to that town and took a different route back in case he was still there.

Wow!! I understand your ex husband's friend, sometimes there is no place to run so you leave it in God's hands. There were several times I left my house because of tornadoes, but now I'm to old to run. I just say a little prayer and ask God to put his angels around my home for protection, and if it's my time to go, please make it quick.

The women in the church basement were so lucky! Wished I had a basement here! Not many homes in Texas have basements, the ground shifts too much is what I have been told and I believe it.

The peak months of the tourist season are usually July and August. I would suggest May, June or September, less busy . Have you a particular part of Ireland in mind that you want to visit , other than Dublin. ?

Nileyears replies on 5/26/2021 8:25 am:
September would be nice. Not only Dublin, I would like to drive out into the country and take in as much of Ireland that I could. My youngest daughter and I have talked about going there for the past ten years, hope we aren't too late with all that's going on in the world now.

That would be the best way to go for sure. It would work out cheaper too. Hopefully you and your daughter will get to make the trip one day.
