I'm surprised you don't get warnings from official sources about that type of scam. We have a special brigade that tracks down scams of that kind. Your daughter was very lucky.

Haha, see, you didn't know I had a sparkly side to me, did you? Neither did I, lol.

I told my daughter that men get scam spammed as well as women. It's sad that she had to learn the hard way, but I guess it's because she's so trusting, whereas, I don't trust anybody. Life has taught me soooooooooooo many lessons!!

It wasn't me, I don't believe anyone anymore. I don't know if the dating site she was on even gave her any warnings. What is this "Special Brigade" you are referring to?

Yes, she lucked out this time, maybe she'll listen to her old Mom in the future!

Yep, and when are the youngsters ever going to listen to us?

Why do some women fall for this crap? Boggles my mind!! Even my own daughter fell for this garbage after all the stories I have told her on how these scam artists work. Live and learn!!

Sounds like you at least stopped a few women from being scammed, or at least I hope so.

Thank goodness he had a brother watching over him, or he would still be sending money to that scam artist!!

My daughter just lost her husband last year, so I don't think she is thinking clearly and she's also been so trusting of everyone all her life. Maybe it's my fault, her watching how I don't trust at all, unless that trust is earned, she's the total opposite of me. Anyway, she lucked out, only lost the cost of the money gram.

Well looky here, I just got another message in my inbox, lol, it must be my new found scammer friend. Wonder what kind of story he/it is going to tell me.

Nileyears I get these stupid letters all the time. It is always the same line of BS. Their grammar is terrible and the sad part of it is they steal other pictures to post on their profile. I never answer any of them as you really don't know who you are writing to. It is so sad that SFF doesn't check these guys out better. But it is only money int heir pockets as they all have gold or silver memberships. I would be very wary of anyone from Africa in particular. Your daughter was very lucky.

Hi. Yes the loss of Michael must be still hurting and thinking there's someone else genuine out there, then finding out is not must be pretty cruel. There's no substitute for face to face contact, even then people can look you in the eye and lie. Great her lesson did not cost what it could have. God bless.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Hi Shar, yep, I get a lot of them also, just got rid of another one yesterday. They probably pay for one month of a Gold membership to scam as many of us as they can before they are busted and deactivated. They also leave a number for you to text them, lol, right, like I'm going to give them my cell phone number.

Yes, she was lucky, but her bank closed her account because of it, and now she has to find a new bank, but it's better than her being out $1,500.00.

Hi Hermit, yes, I think the same, but she's not going to find another like Michael and my heart goes out to her. We talked about it this morning and she already closed her profile at the other dating site, there was another scammer who asked her to help him yesterday and when he asked for her bank account number she said no way!!

What really makes me sad is this kind of garbage ruins it for those who really want a partner in their life. People stop trusting even more and most of us already have trust issues, so when a red flag pops up, and it doesn't even have to be a big flag, we run the other way. I love face to face meetings, you either click, or don't, but you're so correct, a lot of people are so good at lying that you would have to be with them for a long time before you would ever catch them in a lie.
