Something I have been saying for years. Whether it be political or otherwise would like to see people go do something themselves, then I would welcome hearing all about it. Anyone can watch the parade and criticize the participants. Lets hear about personal participation in the marching.

Well Maisie, arguing, or debating as you call it doesn't inspire certain people here, it's just the SSDD.

Most "get their foot in the door" politicians go out and get donations, they want to keep our country great, they get the backers. I've known a few and have met them at rallies. If it takes a spare million, or two, to get on the ballet, that should show you right there that our system is broken! If the rich are the only people that can run, it will be them that set the policies, and we see that happening now.

I agree Thomas Paine was one of the most inspirational Founding Fathers, but he wrote what was in his mind, what was right for the people, he knew the difference between right and wrong, I doubt seriously if he would be a blogger, he was a man of action, but that is only an assumption, realistically neither of us will ever know that answer.

No offense Nile but it isn't as simple or as straightforward as you think/imagine.

You'd think the qualifications would be more than what you listed, Rae. Given I don't live in the United States and therefore don't meet the requirements, I'll have to withdraw my application. Interesting post.

Thanks Rocket, I just might! Every time I vote, I have notice several positions here in Texas with only one candidate, yep, just one! No choice doesn't set well with me. I can even become a county judge if I wanted too, being a lawyer isn't required. There are several positions I could run for, and no matter which one, it's a way of getting my foot in the door.

Are you kidding, Rae? In Texas a person could become a judge, even though they aren't a lawyer? That's pretty unbelievable. How could someone make legal judgments without being an expert on the law?

That's what I thought also Elaine, but I was wrong! A friend of mine has been trying to get me more and more involved for the past 10 years, but with my job and the long hours, I found it impossible to do anymore than what I was doing. Now, I am retired and have some spare time to get more involved, of course that would mean if I got a position, I would have to come out of retirement.

I'll message the position requirements to you on FB.

Nope, not kidding, like I said, I'll send that info to you on FB.

You are so right Boogie, it doesn't take millions, unless of course you're running for president, which I find ridiculous, but, they do have to go from state to state, not town to town.

People confined to home could make the phone calls, which I never liked to do, but somehow I was always "volunteered" to do so. Wasn't that bad actually, I talked to a lot of nice folk.

I kind of broke away from politics these past couple of years, only because it does take a lot of energy, and my working hours zapped any extra energy I had out of me.

I wished I could have met Steven Schiff, I've heard some pretty interesting stories about him, he died too young!

Well, no one can say you don't know what you're talking about, you've been there!

Hahahaha, not laughing at you Maisie, laughing at you blogging about me, now that would be funny!!

It would be county judge, not a criminal, district, or family judge, those require some law practice, or experience as a judge. So nothing to worry about there.

I understand that it takes money to play the political game, I also know they will dig into your family life and drag up every skeleton they can find, and I also know the salary isn't much, but if it can be accomplished, there will be another voice on the inside fighting for the people. That's the only way to turn our country around and get it headed back in the right direction. We have got to get rid of a lot of "shibit" in our government.

Nileyears, I do not see any harm in uploading political blogs unless those are copy and paste Jobs! I would always prefer to read an original work. Do you not think that SFF should open a separate section for publishing Political blogs?? The site owners must find a way to keep the blog (political) wars confined in a safe area!

Hi Looklook, and no, that is not what I am saying. What I mean is that there is all this talk and no action. Arguing and fighting each other instead of going out into the real world and actually doing something about it.

I like your idea, but I doubt the site owners care.

ET, it's those career politicians that need to go, they have been in office too long. Actually, I believe in term limits, that might help keep our politicians from getting too corrupt. Send them back to work and make them retire on SS like the rest of us.
