I don't have kids, but I am pretty sure parents do it because they love their kids.

Kids - what would we do without them?

Like you I like to figure out at least the big picture before going to the mechanic. I had a sports car that was very fussy and expensive to maintain so I knew it and the service manual inside and out. I took it to the my mechanic for a new water pump. He practically rolled on the floor laughing when I told him it was definitely the water pump because it sounded like the washing machine when it was about to die with a full load in it. He did his own evaluation and called me. It needed a new water pump.

It sounds like she's VERY fortunate to have you there for her!

Yes Rocket, they really do! I do have my old truck still, but I keep it close to home, it's 18 this year, I want her to be safe and not worry about her getting stuck on the side of the road somewhere.
