DO YOU COME FROM A CLOSE-KNIT FAMILY?

My parents and sister and I were always close. Since my dad died, I am very close to my mother and sister. My sister and I have similar tastes and went on holiday together in 2014. My brother, on the other hand, is 8 years older and as I was growing up he was out with his friends. I hardly saw him.

How close were you with your immediate family as you were growing up? Do you think that affected how you turned out? Are you still close to your family?

Family composition has changed over the years. I have always been close to some even though for various reasons it changed over time. Currently I am the matriarch of the family and keep them close.

I'm very sorry about your sister, Puzzles, and about your siblings that passed away. What was it like being the youngest of 7? Thanks for sharing more about yourself.

You seem very strong and determined so I can definitely picture you as being the matriarch. Thanks for your comment, Spirit.

Yes, I'm very close with my five sisters and three brothers. We have a very good relationship indeed. When we get together we always have a good time.

Some times, I think maybe too close. LOL. For instance, Thurs. evening, I had some things that needed done, but four of my daughters needed to talk to me...... all at the same time! One finally just came to the house.

I'm the baby girl out of 7 kids, but not the youngest. All of my brothers are still here, I'm the last sister. I wasn't really close with any of them when growing up, I had nothing in common with my sister who was only 2 years older than me, she was a girly girl and I was a tomboy, my oldest sister died when I was two, so I didn't really know her. I was always close to my Mom though and miss her so much!!

Now I'm closest with my second oldest brother, we have a lot in common, fishing, shooting and political views, the other three, absolutely nothing, we very seldom talk, or call each other.

My daughters, granddaughter and I are all very close, always have been and sure we always will be. There's a bond there that is so strong, I don't believe anything can sever it.

It's sad that distance and religious beliefs, kept you apart from your family. I am sure those experiences made you more determined to be close to your children. It sounds like you are very fulfilled now and that's wonderful, Lulu. I am happy for you.

I am sorry about your sisters passing away, Rae. It is usually harder to be closer to an opposite sex sibling unless there are only the two of you. It's great you and at least one of your brothers share such a close bond. I know you are are close to your daughters and their families. I am sure your daughter relies on your support and appreciates it, during this trying time with Michael. Thanks for your response.

I come from a family of 8 and I am the youngest girl. I have two brothers younger than me. One of my sisters lives in Alberta and she is 2 years older than me and we are very close. Most of the time we send messages back and forth every day via scrabble that we play online. My oldest sister is 11 years older than me and she has always been the older sister. You have to work hard to keep connections with your siblings particularly the brothers. Most of them have kids and grand kids so they are caught up with their kids and grand kids. I am glad that at least my one sister and I keep in close contact.

It's good that you have a sister that you can share everything with, ET. It's bound to happen that not everyone would be equally close. Thanks for your comment.

That's great that your parents had so much faith in you. Hopefully that didn't lead to you being distanced from your sister. We all have regrets but I am sure they know you did all you could for them, Tx. Thanks for your response.

It is harder to be close to opposite sex siblings if there are others the same sex. It's great that you have that sister that you are close with, Shartaun03. Thanks for your comment.
