DO YOU HAVE A SWEET TOOTH?

The odd person brought up some desserts in my post about their favorite ethnic food. I think that topic deserves a post of its own. I for one love cheesecake. I never knew that creme brulee was good until I tried it at one Toronto restaurant. It is sweet and after a heavy meal, it is nice and light and tasty. Tell us your favorite dessert and if you have a recipe to go with any, please share it. i wish I had one to share but I haven't made any cheesecake in a long time. I wouldn't know where the recipe is. I found a place where I buy them for special occasions.

In case they need identifying, the pics are: cheesecake, creme brulee, chocolate eclair, chocolate cake, ice cream, strawberry shortcake.

I don't really have a favorite. I love anything sweet and rich. Only thing that saves me from gaining about 300 pounds is that my digestive system doesn't handle most of these things so I get sick. Kind of like aversion therapy. However more often than I should I make the decision that I will eat it anyway and pay the price.

Those desserts look amazing. I love sweets and one of my favourites is Marzipan. One of the most delicious desserts I've ever had is Baked Bananas. You put this special topping on the bananas before you bake them. There must be fifty websites with recipes for Baked Bananas but I can't find the exact recipe for the topping that I used. My father used to make Yorkshire Pudding for Christmas and the sauce he put on it was delicious.

Those desserts all sound pretty great. I love cream puffs with real whipped cream. Thanks for your comment, ET.

I know what you mean, Spirit. I had a health issue 30 years ago and I had to avoid certain foods. When I had them, I got severe pains. Every now and then I took the chance but the consequences weren't worth it. Thanks for responding to my post.

Yes they do, bijou. My sister loves marzipan too. I didn't know there are sauces on Yorkshire Pudding. I have only had them the odd time with prime rib long ago. Thanks for your comment.

You must have strong will power. I am a chocoholic (ok not really) so I understand what you mean. Thanks for responding, Roxy.

I love a nice piece of raisin or rhubarb custard pie with ice cream, in the afternoon, with a cup of coffee.

After a meal, I prefer either a small scoop of lemon sorbet, or a little plate of cheeses and crackers.

One of my favorites growing up was my mother's lemon meringue pie. I think she made the filling from the box. Obviously it was a good recipe as we all liked the pie. The other one was an apple pie. I always had good comments on my apple pie. I think it was the amount of cinnamon I used and also fresh apples and not canned apple pie filling. My favorite apples to use were McIntosh. I made it pretty much the same as my mother's recipe. Dutch apple pie was good also with a streusel topping on it. Nowadays I do not eat desserts anymore. If I make anything I make apple crumble and use some kind of sweetener in it which isn't the same as brown sugar.

I like them all, but have to admit that the chocolate cake would be my first choice.

Rocket, sounds like that pie would complement a good meal. I never tasted rhubarb custard pie. Sorbet is nice. Mango sorbet is my favorite. Thanks for sharing that.

You just reminded me of something from my childhood. My sister and mom and I used to go shopping downtown. We would eat at the lunch counter at Woolworth and have a fish dinner. For dessert, we would all have lemon meringue pie. Those are fond memories. Thanks Shartaun03. That apple pie sounds excellent.

I would eat any of the desserts on those pics too. That's why they are up there. Though I have to admit that strawberry shortcake would be my last choice. Thanks for your comment, ranger.
