DO YOU LOVE YOURSELF? DO YOU HAVE MANY REGRETS?

I have met many people due to my work and because I spend so much time online. There is something that stands out to me as being really sad. I have met many people that don't love themselves. They give unconditional love to others but not to themselves. I find this more in the case of women. If they are overweight, they are especially self loathing.

I am far from perfect and I have made more mistakes than I care to remember. Some have had lifetime consequences, like having no . You know the song My Way, "regrets, I've had a few, but then again too few to mention"? That's NOT me. I have a ton of regrets. The one thing though is I do love myself. I am flawed but I know I have done my best. If you can look in that mirror and see how special you really are, perhaps you can learn to love yourself. Those who take it a step further need professional help. I am not a psychologist so that is beyond the scope of my post.

I've never thought much about it Shuel. I've always just kept putting one foot in front of the other. Life moves on and I live with the decisions....good or bad.... that I've made.

If one measures love of self by the number of regrets I have, and do overs I wish I could have, I guess that I don't much.

I really don't have regrets but, like Lulu I often think back and wonder what life would be like if I had made a different decision or choice. I am more inclined to life life in the moment than have too much concern about the past or future.

I'll toss out a radical thought. If you believe in some of the theories of quantum physics there are infinite alternative universes where all variables are happening. It would be amazing if we could travel between them. Actually we do when we ponder the impact a different decision would have made

That was a fantastic answer, Lulu. It did get me thinking since I have many regrets and yet I do love myself. I made some choices that makes me angry at myself but life goes on. If I hated myself for the choices I made, it wouldn't change anything. So, I think with self love comes self acceptance of one's flaws and choices. However that is in my case. There are others who don't forgive themselves and perhaps that is why they don't love themselves. Thanks for your comment, Lulu.

I enjoyed reading your answer, Roxy. Thank you. Yes, those who are terrible to others often don't regret it at all or only at the end, as you stated.

Thanks ET for your comment including that Willie Nelson quote. I never head it before but I like it and it is very true.

It depends on your perspective, Rocket. For me, my many regrets has not prevented be from loving myself. To others, it may. Thanks for your comment. and I certainly hope you do love yourself. You are one of the nicest people I met here.

That would be interesting indeed, Spirit. Thanks for sharing that.

Hi Elaine: In the past I was very critical of myself and judged myself very harshly. But now I realize I did the best with what I had to work with and am proud of myself. I do have many regrets, mostly I made some bad financial and relationship decisions.

I think you hit the nail on the head, bijou. We all tried to do the best we could, and that is why we all need to love ourselves. Thanks for you comment.

I am so sorry that this post reminded you of such a bad time in your life, RosesLady. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they asked that instead of giving you time to yourself.
