IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS BECAUSE IT IS!

Galinaexpert wrote a blog post that disturbed me today. She is promoting Russian women who want to come to foreign countries to meet men. In it, she is also promoting a book. I write erotica and I don't think that promoting books is allowed on this site or I would have many to show. I won't be doing that.

This is what I wrote on her post:

I don't know who you are but it was nasty to attack those who wrote comments. There may be women in Russia who legitimately want to find a man to love in a foreign country but I think that is the exception rather than the norm. I have a friend that got caught up in such a scam and gave "her" thousands of dollars. She was supposed to bring herself and her to Canada and they were supposed to get married. My guess is that "she" wasn't even a woman. He never met her or heard her voice. Scams happen often and they prey on the lonely, as he was. I warned him but he was so anxious to have a woman that he paid out more than he had. He ended up in debt.

The reason I am writing this is to warn any lonely guy who considers bringing over a woman from a foreign country, to be very careful. My friend ended up with nobody and felt worse and in debt and bad about being taken in by a scam. As the expression goes, "IF it sounds too good to be true, it is because it is".

Ranger, I can't speak for men on this site, but when I asked my friend how much he sent "her", he admitted it was over $5000. He is not a rich man and this made me sick. You have no idea how much I tried to warn him, but he was so lonely he felt he had to go for it.

These scammers don't just go and ask for money. They are too experienced at what they do. They have chats and act like they want to get to know the guy better. They later "fall in love" and "want to marry their true love". The picture she sent him was a model's pic. I even googled and showed my friend but he was too desperate to pay attention. They don't go for the good looking successful men. They prey on the lonely and shall we say men that wouldn't be popular. It is very sad and these people have no conscience.

I don't send erotic letters. I am an erotica author. Thanks for the request.

RosesLady, yes I agree with you. If men would think with the head above their necks instead of their lower one, nobody would get taken from these types of scams.

I agree that he did, ranger. He suffered from depression and other issues and distanced himself from all his friends, including me, before this happened. I only found out about it when I wrote to see how he was doing.

You remind of another friend I have. He has done things like that with scammers.

Elaine this is so true. I know of one person who got caught up with a woman in Russia. He didn't lose his shirt but they never met. The money he sent to her to help pay her ticket to Canada probably went to her coffers. He never heard from her again. We waned him not to do this but he had to learn the hard way. He is a happily married man and not to anyone he met on the Internet.

Hi Elaine: There are women all over the world who would be willing to marry a stranger temporarily to get to the U.S. or Canada. Once these women get their immigration status here they no longer need the man who had to sign a lifetime support agreement in order to sponsor her. She files for divorce, takes half their assets and the house and the man is required to financially support her.

A lonely or unpopular or unattractive man with a few dollars is their target. Let's face it, if such a man is only interested in having a woman who looks like Marilyn Monroe on his arm, it would be a lot cheaper to use an escort service in his own country.

That story didn't surprise me, Shartaun03. Yes, learning the hard way seems to be the only way these men will be convinced it's a scam.

Hi Bijou. I don't think it's a matter of having a trophy wife on their arms. I think they want them in their beds. They are so flattered that such a good looking woman actually wants them, which isn't actually the case, they will do anything to have them. Thanks for your response

Now that is an unusual twist, Rubi. If they were going to pay you, what was the scam? Are you sure you weren't supposed to pay something and they would reimburse you? There are scams like that. One company tried to do that to me. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Roxy, I appreciate those kind words. You know I like you and so many of the others here. I am here for the friendships I made. I sell my books elsewhere.
