HAVE YOU HAD IN-LAW PROBLEMS?

I was speaking to someone tonight and heard about a bad case of in-law problems. Basically this nice woman was cut off from her 's family because of it. It seems the -in-law's parents moved in and was jealous of anything between the other grandparents and the first grandchild. Their stopped letting the grandparents see their grandchild. I think that's horrible. If that were my , I would have told him a thing or two. In this case, the affected grandma didn't want to cause friction in her 's marriage so she said little or nothing.

Have you been affected by in-law issues?

My first husband's mother didn't like me, on the day I first met her, she looked right at me and told her son that she wanted him to buy her a gun! Never said hi, nice to meet you, nothing! Kind of scary, huh? LOL She didn't like his second wife either, so I'm guessing she was very possessive of her only child.

I guess there really is jealousy between mothers-in-law. I never realized that. Yes, I agree that expression is true to some degree, in most families. Thanks for your comment, Pat.

That would certainly have scared me. She sounds a bit nuts to me. I'm glad you're nowhere near her or her son. Thanks for your comment, Rae.

That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm amazed you held off that long. I don't think I could have. It's great that you stood up to her eventually. It would have been nice if your husband had. Thanks for your comment, Lulu.

Very impressive, Suellen. You sure showed her. Thanks for your comment. I didn't realize how bad mother-in-laws could be.

She sounds like a real winner. It's good you don't have to deal with her.

My first mother-in-law was great and my second mother-in-law was a pain but luckily my husband always took my side. The second one was a holistic practitioner and health food fanatic. All she ever talked about was homeopathy, weird treatments, ailments and her son's health and how I was killing him with my unhealthy food.

Once I invited her for dinner and was having roast chicken. She brought an uncooked chicken from the health food store and started waving it in my face saying that was the kind of chicken her son should be eating. That chicken was so wrinkled and scrawny looking and cost twice as much as a chicken from the grocery store cost.

The final straw was when I came out of the washroom and caught her slipping a bunch of pills into my little dog's dish.

Fortunately mine lived interstate lol. Yes, had to be firm with both mama & papa-in-law, a little too controlling/manipulating for my palate. Their son was happily packed off home too after a while.

OMG, I can't believe she slipped pills in your dog's food. Who does something like that? She sounds horrible. Thanks for your comment, bijou.

Sounds like you're better off without that whole family, Lilium. Thanks for your comment.
