How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

I read this on Dan's post and thought it would be a good blog topic. We know our age. It's on our birth certificate. Though actually there are some people that unfortunately don't know their date of birth. In some countries, the births were never recorded. However they still know their approximate age. So, forget what you know. Think about how you look and how you feel. What age would you think you were if you didn't know the answer? I think I'd be around 40.

I always think of myself as about 43.

I think that's because that's when my new life began.

Hard to decide as there are pluses and minuses to any age I have been. I'l like my 25 year old athletic body with today's experienced mind.

Thanks for all those wonderful answers. As I read your responses, I realized that the answer may change from day-to-day or even moment-to-moment. Someone could feel 30 and then get an ache that reminds them they are not that age.

Lulu, your answer really got me thinking. I love what you wrote about being completely in the present to have a fuller experience. It reminds me of the times that I tell myself to just enjoy and relish what I am doing. Time doesn't seem to go as quickly and I feel like every minute is cherished. Unfortunately, people don't tend to take the time to do that, and truthfully, neither do I. We all should. Thanks so much for what you wrote.

I heard a preacher say something perhaps similar in a way to Lulu's way of expressing it. He said, "We are living in the ever present now."

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Hard to tell, generally younger than I am. December 2014 my metabolic age was 50 - I don't know if that has any bearing on my overall sense of well being; am reasonably energetic.

*I liked your post on time concept [different cultures] lulu - thanks for the reminder*

That's unusual, Ford, but I appreciate your response.

You have an interesting perspective, Liszt. I've had many dreams in which my dad is still alive. I think it's our way of spending more time with those we lost.

Our past could affect our outlook, which in turn does have a bearing on our present. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Elaine: I see on so many of the men's profiles that they believe they look very young for their age, but to me most of them look way older than their age. Maybe no-one sees themselves the way other people see them.

Physically I think I look a little younger than my age, and people usually say they're surprised I live in a seniors community. I know I look younger than most of the women here, and don't think I will ever wear outdated frowzy clothes or have one of those short grey perms most senior women here have. Emotionally I think I'm in big trouble and still in my early teens, as I didn't have the life experiences many other women have had.

You are definitely correct that we don't see ourselves as others do. We aren't exactly objective. The important thing is that we feel good, regardless of what others think. If we don't, we should try to do things to improve, to make ourselves happy.

As far as experiences, we've all had our own paths and it doesn't really matter if you have had as much experiences as others. In fact, it means that things that others are used to, you may do for the first time and enjoy it more.

Thanks for your comment, bijou.

I remember those days too, Pat. I couldn't wait until I was double digits. Thanks for your great response to my post.

I don't think of myself as the age I am. It is hard to define your age as I know that I act and think much younger. I have always been told I look and act 10-15 years younger. I hate how the days keep rushing by and just refuse to think of myself as being old. I loved when I was in my 40's and thought that was an ideal time in my life.

Yes it is hard and we do tend to feel older or younger, depending on what's going on in our lives. Thanks for your comment, Shartaun03.

Hi Elaine!
My friends don't believe the age I am...Well, neither do I! Most people think I'm 10 years younger. The truth is that I'm a young-hearted person and I think that counts.

I agree on both counts, Lucy. You have such a wonderful disposition. Thanks for your comment.
