DO YOU LOVE CHOCOLATES? I won't deny that I do love chocolates. I limit how many I eat on any given day because it's not the best thing for health. That said, some compare good chocolates to good you-know-what. I decided to look up the best chocolates in Toronto. I'm going to buy some this coming Friday. They look so interesting. I'll put up some pictures from their website. Soma Chocolatemaker is their name. For those who have bought from them, let me know what you think. I don't know if they are good so I'm not recommending purchasing from them. I also don't have anything to do with this company, in case you're wondering. Their chocolates look unique and they were rated #1, when I googled. Their products (they have a ton of things including truffles) are quite expensive. Are any of you chocoholics? What's your favorite treat? Here are pics of some of their truffles: Picture 1: Lemon Meringue Pie (yes, it's a truffle) Pucker Up, Lemon sings the high citrus notes, white chocolate provides the creamy sweet base. Rolled in feuilletine for a crunchy outer crust. Pic 2: Milk Almond cluster Layers of praline and Gianduja (hazelnut milk chocolate) topped with slow roasted almonds. Enrobed in milk chocolate. Pic 3: Caramel Kiss Caramel and milk chocolate ganache, sweet and creamy. Pic 4: Douglas Fir A fruity chocolate from the Dominican Republic infused with the natural oils of the Douglas Fir tree. Costco has "Sanders Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels" you just reminded me I have, to enjoy along with some Stevie Nicks and Coors Light. Had to get daughter to set me up to watch PBS "Leaving Vietnam" tonight and Stevie showed up somehow to sing a little for me. I watch very little TV. I enjoy a little chocolate sometimes... tim

I like chocolate, not so much chocolates. Dark chocolate, not mixed with nuts, fruits, or caramel, in other words, plain old simple dark chocolate!

I was hoping you would have tried it, Rosie. I like Lindt too. Soma told me NOT to put chocolates in the fridge. They said it changes them. I've heard that before. Thanks for your comment. Elaine Shuel

Well although I worked at Toronto's head office for Hershey Canada, I was never a chocoholic (yet we had plenty samples available). In addition I had to watch my sugar intake because I have very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) which was discovered years ago & is controlled with diet. However, my sister introduced me to dark chocolate over a year ago and I found I rather liked it so I began some research. Well when I learned that Dark chocolate is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health; It's made from the seed of the cocoa tree, it is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet, so I thought it must be ok. I checked with my doctor and she said yes, but only a small square of it once a day or every other day, which is fine with me since I don't have a sweet tooth (surprise lol). Then I also learned that studies show that dark chocolate (not the sugary crap) can improve health and lower the risk of heart disease. Wow what a bonus eh? Something that good that is healthy? So, good folks, I discovered Lindt 'Ecellence' has a 'supreme dark chocolate' that is 90% cacao (they say 70%+ is good).. hmmm 90% even better!!

Elaine I used to eat a chocolate but unfortunately I am unable to so anymore. I have a problem with high blood sugar so I have to stay away from sweets. The Lindt dark chocolate bar that is 97% cacao is low in sugar so I an eat that once in a while. We have Purdy's chocolates here in Vancouver and they make sugar free chocolate so will have that as a treat once in a while. I recall chocolates that came from Seattle (See's) were very good.

Hi Elaine: For about twenty years I couldn't eat a single bite of chocolate because I would get an instant migraine headache. Then one day I was in a store and for some unknown reason I just knew that I could eat a chocolate bar and not get sick. I bought one and was so afraid to have a bite, but I did and I was o.k. Yippppeee!!!. P.S. I love dark chocolate covered cherries the best

Nice to see you here, classy_baglady. I agree with you about Belgian chocolates but I've learned that it isn't just about the chocolate being Belgian chocolates. It has to have been made in Belgium. Some companies use Belgian chocolates but I found out their processes are different in Belgium. I never heard of Cote d'Or chocolates so I will definitely be googling that.
