WERE YOU OR ARE YOU THE WOMAN HE MARRIED?

I've often heard men say how their wives changed after they got married. How true is that? Did you change after you got married? What about your husbands? In what ways did you change if you did?

No one knows who they are marrying until they get married. I swear, my third and last husband went from this sweet Mr. Personality image into a monster. We dated for over two years and I never saw that side until a week into the marriage. He knows I don't care much for drinking, but he hid that from me. Then I come to find out he married me for my parents money. We separated in 6 months, divorced within a year. He was violent when he didn't get his way and I almost didn't get out of that one alive!!

OMG, Rae. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm also very happy you got away from that monster. That was really quite a nightmare. Thanks for sharing such a personal thing with us.

Yes, Yes, & Yes!! We were married for 38 great years! Unfortunately, he was taken from me much too early... we had so many plans!

A good marriage doesn't just fall out of thin air... you have to work at it, sometimes more than you had anticipated but it's worth it in the long run! I truly believe patience, trust & understanding goes hand in hand with love!! I'm sure many could add to this list.

I'm sorry for your loss, frenchsalsa, but to have had such a good marriage for so long, is a blessing not many have. Thanks for your heartwarming answer.

That's true, Pat. I've wondered about that one myself. In the 9 years with my boyfriend, I have been through many positive (on the whole) changes. He hasn't changed one bit. Thankfully, I love him as he is (except the workaholic part. ). Thanks for your wise response.

I'll have to think about what you just wrote, Pat. It's possible there have been changes that I haven't noticed. What happened to Nileyears is everyone's nightmare. I am so glad she is done with him. Thanks again for your response.
