I have to admit Lulu, you're the first person I know who referred to animals as "love slaves". I don't see a pet as a slave. I see him or her as someone that loves me unconditionally as I love them. There is no "slave" involved. Thanks for your interesting comment. Elaine Shuel

From the day my mother brought me home I always had both. Due to my lifestyle and living situation my dog stays with my son and only have a cat with me. As for them being slaves - mine have always been rescues who seem to make me the slave. Spiritwoman ^i^

Elaine I am a dog person. I had a dog for ten years and then he got sick and he had to be put to sleep. I never got another dog. But there are plenty of dogs in the neighbourhood that I can enjoy. Cats are great but I think I am allergic to their hair so could never have one.

I much prefer dogs because they are more loving and loyal. We have a black cat called Charlie and he adopted us lol. He is spoiled rotten by our two daughters and I must admit that I do like him

After reading Nileyear's blog (very entertaining so please read it, assuming you haven't already), cats sound like they are a lot of trouble and dangerous to one's health. We're now at 7 for dogs and 5 for cats. Thanks Pat. Elaine Shuel

I know your message was for Lulu, but I have to admit that I agree with you. I have trouble seeing how anyone could perceive an owner-pet relationship as being a love slave to Master. I already counted your vote so we're still at 7 for dogs and 5 for cats. Thanks Maisie. Elaine Shuel
