MAKE NEW FRIENDS, BUT KEEP THE OLD. ONE IS SILVER, THE OTHER IS GOLD. "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold." is an expression I put in my high school yearbook. Actually, I put 2 sayings. The 2nd was: "It's nice to be important but it's much more important to be nice". Anyhow, I was thinking about all the friendships that I read about on this site. Are your old friends important? Absolutely. Is it possible to make new friends even as a senior, and develop an equally great friendship? I'd like to think so. Am I wrong? You tell me. Elaine Shuel |

The blog pages look kind of slow today, guess no one has much to say. I remember singing those verses when I was in school. I don't have that many old friends left, but I have plenty of new, and I think being older you develop a close relationship quicker, so yes, it's possible.

It's much possible Elaine! I found many good friends here in SFF and some of them I met them personally! Some of them had visited me in Milan, Italy while I was still living there. And up to now we are still friends. Sometimes with all the things happening here, it's hard to trusts somebody immediately. You are a nice lady and I am sure you can be a good friend to many. Have a Blessed Easter Day! Betty "The only way to have a friend is to be one."

That's great that you're still in touch, Pat. It's terrific that one could make lasting friendships from meeting on this site. Elaine Shuel

Thanks for that candid comment, Renee. I've thought about the fact this is a senior site and that realistically nobody lasts forever. It will be hard to take, but like everything else, one has to outweigh the good with the bad. Hopefully the good will win out and make it worth being here. Elaine Shuel

I have friends I've had since grade school. Some I worked with 40 years ago-- who I still get together with. I have some new ones. Although I have to admit I'm a little more careful about who I allow into my life now days. I try not to like people sometimes -- but I can't help it -- I just do! Elaine Shuel
