TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION Years after I started dating my boyfriend, an ex girlfriend of his died. He said I could look at her obituary and I saw her birthday. It was the same day as mine, different years, but still the same Sept 19. I said to my boyfriend that I'm shocked. He turned around and said, his fiance that died before they had a chance to marry, was also born Sept 19. I couldn't believe it. If I'm correct, the odds of your birthday being a date is 1/365 so the odds of 3 women that he's been with having the same birthday would be 1/365 x 1/365 x 1/365 = 1/48,627,125 I was in disbelief. My first thought, due to my overactive imagination was, did he search for women with that birthday? No he didn't. The way we met, that wouldn't have been possible. It was just a strange coincidence. Too bad he didn't beat the odds and win the lottery instead. Do you have anything that happened to you, that also shows that "truth is stranger than fiction"? Elaine Shuel |

About ten years ago I went to New York with three work mates and we had tickets booked for "Phantom Of The Opera." As we were getting into our seats we heard a voice calling out to us. There sitting in the same aisle a few seats away from us was an ex work colleague. In a huge theatre in the Big Apple we should end up sitting beside someone we all knew well 3,000 miles from home. Your story is much more interesting Elaine

Elaine what a strange coincidence indeed. It is even stranger that your boyfriend's two former fiancé's both died and they both had the same birthday. Along comes you and you also have the same birthday with exception of the year. Is your boyfriend psychic or something? I have never encountered anything like that. If I happen to run into someone in a store of whom I had been thinking about 2 minutes before that is coincidental enough for me. Which happened to me recently. I hadn't seen this friend in a couple of years.

Hi Elaine: I haven't bought a lottery ticket in decades, but decided to buy a $1. ticket on a small lottery o $50,000. OMG I don't know what the odds are of this happening, but I checked the numbers at home and I had every single number. I took the ticket in to have it checked and all the bells went off on the machine. Unfortunately 135 other people also had the same numbers so we had to share the money.

Just to clarify, Shartaun03. One was a fiance that unfortunately got ill and died, before they got married. The other one was an ex girlfriend not fiance. They were both born Sept 19, as I was, but not same years. I have to say that it really made me uneasy, when I first found out. It was so odd. I know what you mean about meeting someone you were thinking about, but 2 minutes later, that is odd. Are you sure you're not psychic? /:> Thanks for your comment.

Wow, are you engaged to him yet? Keep him as a boyfriend and don't break up with him! Kidding! Not as unlikely as yours, but my best friend's son was born on my birthday, and my daughter was born on her husband's birthday, my mother died on my best friend's birthday. Now I have no excuse for forgetting any of their birthdays!

Thanks Elaine for clarifying that. I wondered afterward if I got it correctly. It just seemed like an odd thing and for it to happen three times. Your B/F must be physic or something. No I don't consider myself physic but sometimes things happen for a reason. We will try and get together soon when the weather warms up. She lives maybe a block from me but we rarely run into each other. Elaine Shuel

Strange coincidence (?) indeed and I can't help but marvel :- ). The nearest I can relate to similar is a close friend who shares her birthday with my mother; her mother in turn died on my birthday last year.
