WHAT DO YOU THINK OF TODAY'S "MUSIC"?

Ok, the title to this post, gives a hint as to what I think of today's music. Now I have to confess that I'm not as "with it" as I should be. The first time I realized that my music choices weren't current, was when I was talking to a friend of mine quite a few years ago. She said something about liking U2. My not-so-clever answer was u2 me2. I thought she was making up the name. I had never heard about them. That's when I knew I was getting old and I was in my 30s.

It's sounds to me that today there is a mix of with "music". I'm not a happy camper about that. I will admit that I dislike . I don't get it at all. I can talk so does that mean I can be a rapper?

I have always liked soft rock and modern country. My favorite song is "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill.

Ok it's your turn. What do you think of today's music and what's your favorite song?

Thanks Poet_Dancer. Love what you wrote about rappers.

The Way We Were in the Sand, is that related to the music from the movie with Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford?

I enjoy most types of music including rock n' roll, pop, motown and country and western. Not into heavy metal or at all . The sixties and seventies is my favourite era for great songs. So many great groups back then way to many too name here. The Rolling Stones were my favourite group and they're still going strong by the way. I don't have a favourite song there are way too many that I love equally well .

i appreciate your response, Pat. You answered a question I've been wondering. I had a couple of comments banned and wondered if the person banned it or SFF. Given what you just wrote, clearly SFF does the banning. I never banned any of your posts. Thanks for clearing up that mystery for me.

Your comment was great and I feel the same, except the music I like is from the 70s and the country music would be more like what's sung by Faith Hill.

I'm not familiar with the series True Blood but it's nice to have a CD to listen to on a trip. Lady Gaga is quite talented, as she proved on the Oscars. I do like Katy Perry's song Roar, I must admit. Thanks for your comment, boogie.

Thanks very much, Maura. Clearly isn't a hit with seniors.

What a great topic. My music likes and dislikes are variable. I must say after watching The Voice and American Idol I have been introduced to a whole new generation of music. But I am with Boogie on Lady Gaga. and Tony Bennett doing their thing together certainly brought a different side out of Lady Gaga. Although I do like Alejandro and Bar Romance two of her originals. I didn't like watching her doing some of those songs and her outfits were outrageous but she does have a fantastic voice. Pharrell Williams is a judge on The Voice and he has a wonderful voice and is very talented. I like country. Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and a few others are some of my favorites in country. Soft rock is in my sphere as well. I think in general I like most kinds of music with exception of .

Thanks for sharing that with us, Shartaun03. To me, isn't music.

You definitely have a wide range of music that you like, Bill. That's great. Music feeds the soul. It can relax you and make you feel good.

By the way, I just put up this post today, perhaps early morning. There's no time limit to respond. I'm glad you did. Thanks Bill.

Hi Elaine: When became a category at the American Music Awards and started winning tons of awards for Best Artist, Best Record, etc. I was surprised as all sounded about the same to me. Then I started listening to it and the amazing lyrics and great beats really start getting to me. After Michael Jackson died Chris Brown wrote a song in tribute to him and I defy anyone who dislikes to listen to that and not have a tear in their eye.

My favourite music is Opera, Classical, Latin,

I can't say I've heard Chris Brown's tribute to Michael Jackson, but the I've heard I didn't like. Let's face it, bijou, the type of music a person likes is a personal choice. It's great you're opened to different types of music. Thanks for your comment.

The Way We Were is my favorite movie. When Hubble meets up with Katie in the movie, right near the end, I cry every time. It's one of the few movies that I've watched more than once. My boyfriend bought me the DVD since he knows how much I love it. My sister bought me a music box that plays Memories, the theme song of the movie.

Yes, there was good music in the 70s and 80s. I should put on old CDs more often. Thanks Poet_Dancer.
