Bill Cosby - Guilty or Innocent? I assume it's alright to put up this topic, given all the current issues that I've seen in blogs. Anyhow, I've been amazed by how many people still don't believe Bill Cosby is guilty of what he has been accused of. Do I believe that ALL of the women are telling the truth, not really. Do I believe that ALL these women are liars, in conspiracy to bring him down? Unlikely. As the expression goes, where there's smoke, there's fire. What I would love to see is the laws changing regarding the statute of limitations. I think there should be exceptions made in the case of serial and for any crime when there are multiple victims saying pretty much the same thing. In Bill Cosby's case, on the remote chance that he is telling the truth, let him take a lie detector test administered by someone that he would have no idea who ahead of time. Otherwise, he could pay them off. It should be taken in front of his lawyer and the prosecuting lawyer and in fact, the results calculated and given to both lawyers at the same time. The women should have to do the same. iF necessary, a test could be done twice or 3 times, to ensure accuracy. If I was being accused of a crime and I was innocent, I would DEMAND a lie detector test to clear my name. Wouldn't you? Elaine Shuel |

He's done a lot of good in his life, but no one is perfect. And I'm sure he's made some enemies with some of his public comments on social issues, and in that light it's not out of the question to assume some people with influence might set out to smear and even frame him. (He's taken sides both for and against whites, blacks, conservatives and liberals.) I always liked him, even when I questioned some of his socio-political views, but I'm withholding judgment at least until the credibility of the accusers is verified. --And for all I know, they might be found to be very credible. I just don't know until there's a trial.) I think a jury is the best group to figure it out. GBU, Gavin

In my opinion it would be unlikely that ALL the women consented to it, especially given they were drugged and passed out. Elaine Shuel

He has suffered financially but he has enough money to live well the rest of his life. I doubt they'll get their day in court as far as criminal charges go. There is a chance civil suits will end up in court. Elaine Shuel

Nice to hear from you, rainier. What most of his victims have said is that they didn't think anyone would believe them. They weren't aware there were so many other women out there that he did the same thing to. Remember, they would have had to accuse the great Bill Cosby, a highly respected actor and comedian. When some did come forward years ago, the matter got settled as a civil matter and never got to criminal court. Elaine Shuel

The problem in this case Bill is, how can he be proven guilty if he won't waive the statute of limitations? I can't assume he's innocent, solely based on the fact he can't be found guilty. A polygraph isn't perfect but he and the women would be taking it. Also, for accuracy, they could do the test several times. If there is a real issue about accuracy, they could even call in more experts. No offense but I doubt the lie detector expert that would be brought in for Bill Cosby's test, would be the same calibre as in the case against you of petty theft. Elaine Shuel

It isn't the first time they came forward........There were many allegations in the past that Cosby settled privately. There was an article in a major magazine in 2005 about several women accusing him of drugging and ra*ing.......he was famous enough for it not to make much of an impression. Women tend to keep quiet about these things, especially involving a famous man......they are afraid that they will be slut-shamed.....and they have good reason to fear that......society has changed enough and the fact of the many allegations has shifted the situation enough to give them courage to speak up. It was posted on the 6th of Dec, 2014, on the second page of my blog, it had drawn 72 comments, with 1612 views. That was really wonderful as I didn't expect such a great success . The viewers/readers and their comments were in such a great number, which really passed my imagination!!. So, we're just waiting, hoping Cosby's case would be ruled in the Court of Law and whatever will come out, we'll know later. Wish you a great weekend Elaine. Lisa.

However Rocket, how will a court decide, when the statute of limitations prevents a court trial unless someone new comes forward that is within that ridiculous time limit? If it was one person who accused him, I would think she might be lying. Two, perhaps still not convinced given his celebrity. We're now up to over 20 women that came forward, I believe. It would be insane to believe there isn't some truth to what these many women have said. I know it's hard to accept that someone you admired is actually a monster but I hope you will soon. By the way, I have a curious nature and I noticed that your viewership in general was very high around that time. From January it dropped down. Why has readership changed so much since the new year? I really wonder. My comments on your blog post was just to inform you that I had since written a blog on Cosby, on such a date and so on, with that similar tittle. I don't think it would so offend you deeply. You had your right to blog on it again, surely, it won't affect the comments and debate on that blog of mine. If you hadn't seen it before, am glad that you have seen and read it as you came to post your copied response again on it. I also wonder what Rocket has to do in your posted response to me!!. Did you miss the para in any eventuality?. As far as I know, regarding all the viewers and comments on all my blogs, NOT a bad remark or retort, has ever been posted on any of my blog. This woman embroiders her posts with many ingratiating, flowery words and phrases that often obscures the meaning. In her Cosby blog she kept repeating that he would be tried in a court of law and insinuating that the women were compliant though several of us told her about the statute of limitations and that the women said they had been drugged.........she went on several slut-shaming tirades. accompanied by the aforementioned flowers and incense........ She also said that she thought that the fact of the women not coming forward before, not going to the police and not insisting on ra*e-kits was suspicious. She kept saying that it was wrong to judge Cosby, but apparently judging the women was OK.......I told her again about the statute of limitations and that if she didn't understand why the women didn't come forward initially, that she should do some research on the psychology of r*ape .....At one point I told her I had no idea what she said.and maybe it was a language problem and her knowledge of English was perhaps not up to the challenge of a blog like that.....Here is her reply.....Her usual Saccharine was somewhat diluted..........Now, English is my second language and my language remark was in no way intended as an insult, but a statement of fact..... "NOT SURPRISING, THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA, YOU REALLY SEEM ONE WHO NEVER HAD ANY AT ALL?. SIMPLE ENGLISH, WHICH EVERYONE HAS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD!!. YOU DON'T !!. HAVE YOU EVER UNDERSTOOD ANYTHING AT ALL?. WHAT'S A PITY !!.". YOU BETTER GET TAUGHT THEN, IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN AS THESE ARE NOT SOLD IN ANY MARKET. I think that most people's interest in the Cosby situation isn't because they relish a scandal at all.....it is because they want justice done and to believe they live in a world where people can't get away with taking advantage and committing despicable crimes just because they are rich and famous. Anyways, Beth still thinks Cosby is going to be tried in a court of law......... I think these misunderstandings with Beth come down to cultural and language differences. That's what I concluded anyways......I know this place can be confusing at first, but mostly we just say what we want and let the chips fall where they may.....I know that my point of view is too esoteric for most....in the real world and in this one. I also mentioned how it came to be a successful one beyond my imagination At the end of my comments, I just wrote that we're just waiting to know about the ruling of the Court of Law to know the outcome. Each one is free to express his own opinion too. I was not against yours. To me it sounded like you were bragging at my expense. You also seemed angry that I blogged about the same topic as you did (again, I wasn't aware at that time that you did). In another message, saying mine was inferior, didn't help. I swear that I didn't know about your post about Bill Cosby until you told me and I DIDN'T post or copy on your site to upset you. I addressed what Rocket said there, as I would on any post. I didn't mean it as any disrespect to you. You and I differ on our opinion about Bill Cosby and that's perfectly fine.
