Does being judgmental help us feel better about ourselves?

Someone answered a response I made on a blog, that they have the right to judge others. Of course, everyone is free to judge someone else. I was wondering if when we look at someone or get to know them and think "he's not very bright" or "she's very overweight" or whatever, it makes us feel better about ourselves. Is that why some people judge others so critically? I'd like to hear what others think.

I am putting a pic of my deceased Skippy here. He died in 1988. This blog is not about him but on another blog that it was more appropriate for, it turned out I can't put his picture since it wasn't my blog.

I'm sorry for putting my dog's pic in an unrelated blog post. I didn't realize there are those here that have issues with dog pics. It boggles my mind why people have issues with things like that. If someone dislikes dogs, just skip the post and by all means, don't buy a dog.

There are all sorts in this world, and in the blogs you will find a good sampling of them.

Well look at that...I just read your replies to my post...So, does it make you feel better. You know. The judgemental thing.

Sorry about your dog...I have three, but you never forget that special one.
Wow, I just looked at your blog to try to figure out your problem. I was blown away that you attacked me for agreeing with what another member wrote. If someone agreeing with another member, when that member (Maisie) basically just said that there should be freedom of speech, is an issue with you, the problem isn't with me. I wasn't being judgmental. I was agreeing there should be freedom of speech. As far as your good experiences with the Canadian health care system, it's great you've been lucky but my family hasn't had that same luck. We don't live in a small city. We're from Montreal. I can only talk about the experiences I've had.

Thanks for saying that about my dog. Sorry for the loss of HoneyGirl. It's hard to get over a pet dying. I know how you feel. They are a part of the family and some people just told me, go get another one. It doesn't work like that, at least it wouldn't have for me.

I don't believe it has to do with how bad your day was but that's only my opinion. Thanks for giving us yours, Percy.
