22 Years Old, 22 Million-Dollar-Year I'm watching Jordan Spieth walk up the fairway to the 18th and last hole of the year-ending Tour Championship. It's a lock. He's on the green and (probably) 2 putts away from the win. Along with $12 million in "regular" tournament earnings, he's going to make a $10 million-dollar bonus for winning the FedEx Cup. This is the most anyone has ever won on tour. Pro athletes have signed contracts for more than this - for multi-year contracts. They also had teams to play with. This is the excellence of an individual. OK - his first putt on the 18th wasn't great. He left himself about 10 feet to make par. He made it. This is a class act, boys and girls: if you have any feeling for golf and, especially the future of golf in the USA, here is your guy. |
