OK - here goes: The 5th Circuit and SCOTUS have held that the 2nd Amendment is an INDIVIDUAL right to own guns (as opposed to a collective right for a State Militia). I look at it as 1) a tool to help in case I need to fulfill my oath to protect and defend against enemies foreign and domestic and 2) protect myself, my family and even complete strangers against evil people. I feel like I'm trying to teach a chimp calculus, but I thought I'd give it one last try. If might benefit someone to get her face out of the gravy boat and spend 5 minutes doing research. As far as the "flintlock" argument, the Founders knew that firearms had evolved and were probably smart enough to know that the evolution would continue. They also knew who had the cannons.

Guns - every try to win a war with a copy of the Manifesto? God - "there are no atheists in foxholes" Glory - ask the Concentration Camp survivors if they've ever had a more glorious day than when they were liberated Sneering at what you don't understand = ignorance of the first order.
