Ann, you are correct the cornmeal does work. I have had to make as many as three applications on larger hills.

The reason it works is they eat it, the moisture in their body makes the cornmeal swell up and they die. The secret is to feed them enough so the "queens court" feeds it to the queen. The queen does nothing but lay eggs, the court feeds, grooms and takes care of her every need just like a hive of honey bees.

Hi, Ann. We are plagued with ants in the front and back garden. I use Nippon ant powder, not with great results. I find doing the garden a right pain with the little buggers running all over it. They give a very nasty sting too. The cornmeal sounds wonderful, I can't wait to try it.

And....if you are bitten by these mean little buggers...don't know what to tell you now....but there's some stuff on the net you could order for next time called Miracle II that completely erases the bite....no sting....no blister....no nothing...get the clear liquid...it works. It's great!

Cornmeal, eh? Yeah, it's doing a great job of clearing the yard of ants. Just one thing, I think the excess should be used to make some of those wonderful hoecakes we had the other day at MaeBob's diner. Why should the damned fire ants get it all? Puhleese honey.....

Alfie..
