I think it is enjoyable to look back on the way our parents used interact with each other, isn't it? All my life I have remembered little things from my childhood, things my parents used to say to each other and laugh about. Those were the days my friend. We thought they'd never end.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I don't really have many good memories of my parents, but my grandparents gave me the best ones of my childhood. Grandpa never said a lot, and I don't remember him calling Gramma any special names, but when she was busy doing something at the sink, he would take the dish towel off the back of the chair and flip her fanny with it.
I know it stung, and I asked her why she just laughed..... she said he never was much for the words, but she knew that he was showing her his love in that manner.

My father was a joker.....when he was dating my mother in Oslo, there was a bridge between his home and hers. He was a gymnast....Every day, unbeknownst to my mother, he would practice leaping over the railing in one bound and landing on a hidden platform that had been built for maintenance......Then, one day when they were walking across the bridge, her hand tucked under his arm, he suddenly leaped and disappeared over the railing....my mother rushed over and looked down at the river and saw nothing...after several seconds, while my mother was freaking out, he called her name.........It was still an issue after 40 years of marriage.

Although he continued his pranks, they never again quite reached that level of cruelty and she had learned how to pay him back. One day when I was 17, I was in the dining room and could see my dad sitting on the living room couch watching TV.......my mom crept through the door from the hall on her hands and knees, hidden behind the couch......she crawled slowly along until she was next to my dad and then suddenly popped her head out and bit him on the ankle....After his initial fright, they were both laughing until they cried.......This was typical of my family.....

Dad called Mom "Silda" which is the word for Herring in Norwegian.....because she was so tiny......4'11'' and slight....often bought clothes and shoes in the children's dept......
