I remember when you first told me the story of your Uncle Paul and the Quaker Oats cookie jar, I found it to be amusing then and still get a smile out of it. Your Aunt is now at peace and together with her Husband again.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

In the midst of life is death..... and we know it is inevitable we eventually become the oldest family members. We are more aware of it whenever we go to Charleston, SC and Joe no longer has any first cousins living, so we visit distant cousins and a niece and great nieces and nephews.
Sorry for your loss, inevitable or not, it still saddens us.

My GPs are gone, and most aunts and uncles. My folks are still living and I know its a bridge I will have to cross eventually, assuming... Its transition time when my parents' quality of life is going down as their age increases. Even so when they pass I will grieve more than I realize now, for many reasons. It's nice to be able to reach out, even in blogsville and hold hands as we take our next steps

I remember attending my Mother's wake and realizing all the Grandparents and parents were gone. We were the first generation. It's a rite of passage.

Our condolences to you Ann on the death of your aunt. I guess she lived to be a good age. I only have one aunt still living, my dad's sister, Ann. Daddy is still alive and doing well aged ninety-two.

I wrote a letter to my aunt Ann last week, to keep her up to speed on dad. He is so deaf now it is literally impossible now for them to have a chat on the phone.

She was 95 and still bubbly as she always was.

My cousin (her daughter) told me that as she was dying she was talking to Mamie. Mamie is our grandmother, mom's mother, her mother in law.
