I'm sorry to be slow in keeping everyone posted. It's been almost a week since Maisie's stroke, and there have been small ups and downs, but basically things remain the same. Maisie is mostly unresponsive, breathes through a ventilator, and is fed through a tube. From time to time she has been able to respond to commands, open her eyes, and try to pull out her breathing tube.

Yesterday, she underwent surgery to allow the blood in her head to drain. This was successful. Everyone warns me not to expect rapid progress, as the brain heals very slowly.

Thankfully I have some support in the persons of my Emily and Maisie's Patrick. Both have been just super helpful and I am very grateful and proud. They are also taking care of me, because Maisie has been my unofficial caregiver for some time....I have my share of medical problems too.

It's been a very difficult week, as you can guess. It's been a very jolting reminder to take nothing in life for granted. It can all be taken away in the twinkling of an eye. I hope you will continue to keep Maisie in your prayers, and if you have a prayer to spare, please send it my way. God bless all.

Liszt, you have both been in my thoughts and prayers several times a day...... I know how tedious and draining watching Maisie's condition can be for you. I've been wondering what type of support you have, and I'm relieved to hear you have the kids to lean on.
Please know that you have a support system out here in the "cyber world" who are concerned for the two of you and who are sending well wishes, positive thoughts, and praying for Maisie's recovery and for you to have peace, strength, and stamina throughout this ordeal.
Thank you for the update.

If you expect nothing from anyone, you won't be disappointed, but you might be pleasantly surprised.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

OMG Liszt, this sounds like a very serious situation. I have been thinking of Maisie non-stop and even said a little prayer for her recovery. Too bad we live so far apart as I would like to help. All the best to you two. Love, Bijou xoxoxoxo

I'm glad Emily came home to be with you and Maisie. I am sure she's a big help to you. Prayers for you both. My daughter will be leaving the country soon. I don't know what to do without her. I guess I'll cry like a whipped pup.

Continues prayers to uplift and strengthen you and Maisie. I have spent plenty of time supporting a spouse during a heath crisis. It is difficult to see a loved one go though these challenges. Holding both of you in the light.

Listz, I made a comment earlier and it has disappeared. Just know that you both are loved and admired by many on this site and our thoughts and prayers are with you , Maise and family day and night. Having taught neurosurgical intensive care nursing students at the university level I also see positive signs as does Hank. With the drain in and pressure monitoring available hopefully, you will begin to see slight improvement daily. Now, take care of yourself. We are also very concerned about your health issues.

Those doggone kids just when we think we have figured out they do something that both shocks and surprises us. My son did both during my own recent hospital stay. Lynn is not his mother but he was there for her in every way he could. I am rooting for Maisie to come back stronger than ever. You can let her know how many of her SFF friends are praying as well as rooting for her complete recovery.

Don said that even you had some differences of opinion but he is sorry for what happened to Maisie.

My prayers for both of you. May God showers His blessings for a fast and complete healing to both of you!

Thank you for the update Liszt on Maisie. Good thought and well wishes going out to you both from me on the west coast of Canada. We all have our share of aches and pains but nothing compared to what Maisie is going through now. My very best to her.

Thanks for taking the time to update us. Will continue to pray for you both for your individual needs. Glad your daughter and her son are there to offer their comfort and assistance. It is at times like these that family draw close.

Thank you for the update Liszt. Have been very concerned about Maisie and you also. Remember you have to take care of yourself in order to be a help to Maisie. Prayers for Maisie, you and your kids. Pray that God will give all of you the strength to see this thru. I do miss Maisie's blogs. Am very that the kids are there for you. are right. These kids do surprise us. About the time that I decide that my boys just don't care.....they come thru! And it does make a parent feel proud...

Thank you, Liszt, for the update about Maisi's condition at this time and your own challenging situation. As you see, many hands are reaching out to give encouraging and moral support. It's good to hear that the two "Kids" support you and share the burden. Healing needs time and patience!
