"ALEXANDER THE GREAT, KING OF MACEDONIA"

As a change, I have posted today, a brief account of "ALEXANDER THE GREAT". Just to recall a bit of ancient History.

Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 BC – 10/11 June 323 BC),commonly known as "Alexander the Great", was the King of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander succeeded his father, Philip II who was assassinated, Alexander was proclaimed king by the nobles and army at the age of 20. He spent most of his ruling years on an unprecedented military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa, until the age of thirty he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into northwest India. He was undefeated in all of his battles and is considered one of history's most successful military commanders.

Alexander broke the power of Persia Empire, in a series of decisive battles. His empire stretched from the Adriatic Sea to the Indus River. Seeking to reach the "ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea", he invaded India in 326 BC. After a brief illness, with death staring him, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, and all his wealth were of no consequence. So, that mighty conqueror helplessly waiting to breathe his last, called his Generals and said, " I will depart this world soon, I have three wishes. please, carry them out without fail". Alexander died at the age of 32, in Babylon in 323 BC , the city he planned to establish as his capital, without executing a series of planned campaigns that would have begun with an invasion of Arabia. He had founded some twenty cities that bore his name, most notably Alexandria in Egypt. He is often ranked among the world's most influential people of all time, along with his teacher Aristotle. His 3 wishes are mentioned on one of the photos below. His Generals sadly agreed to abide by their King's last wishes.

I hope this blog will revive some of our memories about this Great Conqueror Alexander was. Thanks for your read and views.
Sincerely,
Lisa.

Mary Ann dear, hi,

Am pleased for your visit as usual and your nice comments also. Thank you for posting them Mary Ann. Yes, his funeral seems to have been a great one, as he was the King there. Anyhow, he has died too young also, at 32 yrs. You can see the last photo, is the one of his funeral. Thanks again Mary Ann.
Wishing you a lovely day.
Lisa.

Dakota hi.

Am glad reading you here on my blog, thank you for your visit and for your comments as well. You are quite right, I believe if those conquered countries were still governed by Alexander, it would have been far better for those population. But Alexander have died too young also. Some docs said he was poisoned, other say he contracted diseases during his trips, not sure why he died so early. Thank you again Dakota, hope reading from you again in the future.
Have a nice day.
Lisa.
