Reparations to everyone-----Raise the minimum wage to a standard of living. Party On!

Slavery was around for centuries before it came to America. I doubt that anybody here thinks it wasn't a bad thing, just that it was a thing of that era, and giving reparations to people of today for something that happened over 150 years ago is kind of ridiculous. I would imagine that most of the blacks in our country now are not descendants of slaves at all. It's just a political tactic being used by some politicians to garner votes, because they know it is impossible to implement. BTW, the set of statements that YaYa posted are shown by Snopes to be mostly true. Since they are a liberal site, I'm sure they would have disproved them if they could. There have been many other groups of slaves throughout all of history. I don't see how any country could go back and trace heritage to make reparations to anyone currently living. Those who are living today are not responsible for the actions of slave owners, so why should they be penalized for those actions? A good place to start tracking freed slaves is the U.S census---- if it says joe freed man----first clue--check census every 10 years & see where it leads. Check Texas arrest records after the civil war----if the record shows Mary --freed woman arrested for using mule to plow garden without owner consent you have a clue & can trace relations & addresses and heirs from there.from there. Example Nesbitt library in Texas. Slaves can be traced if anyone wants to do it. Where there is a will there is a way. If you choose not to see it obviously you will not see it. It is not a question of belief-----records are before us. Party On!
