Reflection.....

There is a creek that runs along the edge of our property. I can hear it clearly from my house, especially after a heavy rain. Close to my house it runs at the bottom of a ravine,but further along the land flattens out and there are low grassy banks where you can hang your feet in the water on a hot day, or take the grandkids on a picnic.....just a few minutes from the house, but you can't see any houses from there........Today I was down at the dam taking photos of the reflections in the water when I became aware of a strange, loud sound,almost like a big machine or an elephant roaring.......curious, I followed the creek until I came to the source of the sound.

It must have been that first big autumn storm that had flooded the creek along the flat, sandy banks and washed out the roots of the big alder and upended it across the creek, with its big branches embedded in the creek bed.Over the winter, it had formed a tunnel with an echo chamber where all the creek water was channeled through.....amplified, churning water.....
