Reminds me of a news segment I saw awhile back. College age kids were asked about voter IDs and they were against it because they thought black people in the cities wouldn't know how to get one. Then they asked black people in the cities about it, and all of them knew where and how to get an id............ and were amazed at the answers by those college kids. I'm curious...... For all the identification documents needed... as listed in the blog, why is there even a need for a separate document to register for voting? I would think that a couple of those listed would require a fair amount of verified information...eg. public programs.

"Vote Harvesting" (continue to collect votes AFTER the election until the numbers favor you) has proven a vast success in California. Somehow, with the Dem penchant for getting votes any way they can, I can't worry much about the poor benighted not getting to vote. But voter ID WILL kill some of the most obvious fraud.

I believe she is just talking about one ID, the same ID is needed to buy alcohol or cigarettes, or sign up for other government programs. It isn't a separate one for each task. That would be a state issued driver's license or ID card. When Joe stopped driving, he went to the driver's license facility and got just an ID card that has his picture, address, and birthday on it. Sorry if this seems like a strange question, but I'm not American and I would guess every country has a different system.

Hiramhankwilliam … if you have never seen or heard that quote it's because Hannity, Limbaugh, Fox News etc. are doing a great job of keeping you uninformed as to just how stupid Trump is. Google it. And by the way it's kinda hard to call the story fake when there's video of it.

I went to pay my cell phone bill today in person with cash. I had to show a picture I D and the employee had to write down the I D number on picture I D. . The beginning of life, conception..

Thanks MrsJoe........ So why, if a person has this identification document, why do they have to register to vote? Why can't they just present this ID, and vote? Sorry if this seems like a strange question, but I'm not American and I would guess every country has a different system. The voters' registration keeps people from voting at more than one polling place. At least that is the way it is supposed to work. First off Liz, I don't have a problem with a voter ID system. But if you read the blog you would know it's about stupid people. Trump said you have to show ID to buy groceries. If that insults your intelligence, or writing the truth about Trump insults your intelligence .. that's hilarious. Sorry about that. Too many people are registered to vote who vote for the wrong party. Ditto for district boundaries - they have been aligned far too often in such a way as to rob the Reps of the seats they rightly deserve. The Reps are the party that understands the true intentions of the Founding Fathers. Voting must be restricted to White, property-owning, preferably Protestant, males. The Rep measures for voter id must always be viewed while keeping this principle in mind. Our wonderful former PM in Canada tried to fix our system using tactics similar to what the GOP has used and continues to use. Alas, he failed because the snowflakes voted in an inexperienced rich kid instead.

Obviously, your not initiative enough to understand my gibberish.. without it being totally specifics.. To me.. it isn't as specific.. as Democrats would have you believe. First let me say.. the idea of voter fraud.. is bogus..if fraud was your concerned there are many ways to combat fraud..combating fraud does not follow party lines...Fraud, although not a priority problem still exists on many levels.. no one level being more important than another.. In Florida, for example, the accusation of fraud means very little.. when the accuser had the power for 20 years to correct it. but they choose not to correct some fraud for their own self interest. In Florida, it's evident that correcting some fraud, would adversely effect the "fraud' the party in control is doing ... So fraud is really not the issue.. The same goes for the country,, and the Republican Party. So what really is voter restrictions? Well the specific group is not the issue, people of color or the poor.. Is not the issue... Winning elections is the issue. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that... if every eligible voter voted the Republicans would lose.. I know it's hard for THEM to admit.. but they know it...But what they also know.. is the greatest deterrent to voter turn out is apathy.. and apathy can be found greater in people of color or the poor. Voter restrictions are NOT for the "PREVENTION" of fraud.....but "PUNISHMENT"..... for APATHY. Do I need to explain that to you.. Is it just more gibberish? I will use a "metaphor".... When someone does not "want" to run in a race.. the best way to prevent them from doing it.. is put "the hurdles" in front of them..

It was the Republicans who were responsible for the 13th, 15th, and 19th amendments. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower who supported Brown versus the Board of Education and sent the National Guards to enforce it. It was the Republicans who voted in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 while the Democrats opposed it. They have been screwing the minority communities ever since. It was the working poor who voted in that "inexperienced rich kid" because the Status Quo was not working for them so why not try an outspoken businessman who is a Bull in a China Shop instead of a Barrister Snake in the grass. Civil Rights legislation in 1964 and 1965 passed with bipartisan support and signed into law by a Lyndon Johnson. Opposition was mostly regional and on both sides of the aisle. .. and largely from the Southern (Confederate) States.

Your 'he said she said' about Johnson's "racist words" translates into a non-issue. Most Southerners were racists weren't they? All you need to know about Johnson is that he signed more Civil Rights legislation than any other President. That's the History. Speaking of History …History isn't going to be kind to the alleged thief in the White House. Leaning away from capitalism? Before Trump showed up you were 100% against tariffs. According to you and the Limbaugh crowd, tariffs were the complete opposite of what 'free market capitalism' is about. And tariffs are the tools of socialists and communists. In your words a "non-business man" would call for tariffs. I'm not hearing much about it now from the pubs .. speaking of bowing to influence.

Maisie, your anti-tariff rants are on my blog. They're on two of my blogs entitled Labor Day.They're still up if you want to take a look. And tariffs were needed when the mass exodus of manufacturing facilities escalated … during the Reagan years. We all know the jobs aren't coming back .. and everyone except the "slow class" knows that Trump needs tariffs to finance his money grab. Obamacare is a "heavy lean" away from capitalism? Really … Trump ran his campaign on improving government funded socialized Healthcare. He's going to "repeal and replace" .. without tax dollars. Sure he is.

The blog title is Labor Day … I posted it on 9/1/14 Fair trade not Free trade Protect the US standard of living through tariffs. If a corporation moves its manufactories to a low-wage nation, tax it's imports to a degree that it would be less expensive to manufacture their product in the USA. One of your comments is quote "What non-business man said that? I am sure they have never had a real job. I know they have never had to analyze a P&L (profit and loss statement) and figure out how to make more money for their stockholders. Corporations need to make money to stay corporations. There are two ways to improve- sales and lower expenses. The government collects MORE money when the rates are lower. I call it the Wal-mart method of taxation. You charge less, you make more in the long run. Everyday lower taxes. Countries with business-friendly environments are growing- Canada and Ireland for example, while the US's anti-business climate is driving companies out.
