Great blog, Maisie! He is another example of why we need term limits in Congress. Yes, he was a great man back in those days, but he hasn't done much of anything for the people in his district for the last decade or more. Since when is going to the inauguration like going to a grade school birthday party? If you like the birthday boy, you will go, but if you don't, you won't and you will try to get all your friends to stay away also. Don't all these petulant children realize they need to buckle down and work together or they are going to get totally shut out of future proceedings? Somehow, I don't see Trump acting like Obama (at least I hope not) and telling them that elections have consequences and he won! Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

These petulant, immature politicians seem to forget they are representing the people of their states, not just their own personal opinions. There were people in their states that voted for Trump, and voted for hiLIARy, or someone else, but in the end, all are Americans and deserve the right to have their representative represent them at an American event, the inauguration of a president. How dare they not do what they are elected to do? In Illinois, Rep. Luis Gutierrez acts like he is some sort of God who is only supposed to take care of the Latino and Mexican population. He seems to forget that he is SUPPOSED to be a representative of all the state. Guess he doesn't really represent the rest of us, eh? I just attempted to contact Rep. Luis Gutierrez to express my opinion that I believe our state's citizens deserve to be represented by all our senators and representatives at the inauguration. 1. His website will not take any email from outside of his "district". 2. His DC office phone does not answer and it finally says his mailbox is full and cannot take any more messages. 3. His district office phone has been disconnected and is no longer in service. Hmmmm, guess he doesn't want to hear from anyone. John Lewis was heroic decades ago by strolling across a bridge. But the man has NEVER been a paragon of intellect, nor did his heroism prevent him from fostering his own bigotry and reluctance to address the REAL problems in the black communities. Like others, once he got into office he's simply said and done things to continue to convince his constituents that he's working on their behalf, even tho he's simply living a cushy existence waiting for retirement.
