Nature's Reward- Colored Cauliflower

Have any of my readers seen and eaten cauliflowers that are red, yellow, pink, or purple instead of the regular white ones?

I have never eaten any coloured cauliflowers other than the regular white ones though I have seen yellow and purple-coloured ones in shops for sale.

I have recently read an article published in a local daily newspaper that farmers in different parts of a nearby Dhaka district are trying their luck in growing this coloured cruciferous vegetable- not just for their beauty but also for their increased nutritional value.

Farmers say that Consumers are now buying this eye-catching variety of Cauliflower directly from their fields as they are not readily available in local markets even though the price is much higher than the regular white ones.

Appended photos are all collected.

The coloured cauliflowers are healthier too.

Very interesting and such beautiful vibrant colours. Nearly too pretty to eat. I have only ever seen the white cauliflowers here.

Keep well Looklook, and thank you for sharing.

I have only seen the green and white ones. I don't think it makes much difference in the flavor of the cauliflower. Probably just another sales gimmick.

Here in my country, the yellow- and purple-coloured varieties are available now in winter. The farmers are interested in producing these coloured varieties as the demands are growing simultaneously. I hope you are doing fine, dear Rocket. Take care.

Maudie, when I saw for the first time this variety of cauliflower on the shelf of a Super Shop, I could not believe my own eyes. You are right. This variety of cauliflower is too pretty to eat. Maybe, that is the reason I am yet to taste this coloured cruciferous vegetable. I am doing fine. Take care, dear friend. Stay happy and cheerful always.

Have you eaten the green one? I have eaten the green variety called Broccoli. I like white ones. The benefits of eating this crop variety can be ascertained from the internet. I have done it. I hope you are keeping well. It makes me happy to read here from you, dear Shartaun. Be safe.

I'm glad to hear from you on my blog, dear Serendipity. Those who have tried these colourful varieties confirm their sweetness. These varieties are now being cultivated in the countries located in this sub-continent. I hope you are doing well. Take care of yourself and stay cheerful.

NO WAY I WOULD EAT ONE OF THOSE. DO WE KNOW WHERE THE COLOR COMES FROM? IS IT NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL? WHAT ARE THE RISKS? VERY PRETTY FOR SURE THOUGH.

As far as I know, the colors of the cauliflowers in photo #5 are natural. However, farmers in some European countries grow white, green, and purple varieties. I haven't tried the coloured ones yet, but I would consider buying one if the price is reasonable. It's important to be aware of any potential risks before consuming anything. How are you, Archer? Take care!

I have not eaten the green one. Here is Canada broccoli is different from the green variety of cauliflower. I didn't mean to put down what you have written LookLook. Those different colored cauliflowers would look pretty when served at a dinner.

Shartaun, as far as I can recollect, I ate Broccoli for the first time in 1976 while living in West Berlin in divided Germany. At that time, this particular vegetable was very scantily grown in this part of the world. Our farmers started cultivating it along with White cauliflowers a few years back. I agree with you that these colored cauliflowers would look pretty when served at
dinner. Take care, dear Shartaun.

They are beautiful, but... I think I wouldn't eat a colored cauliflower...

Glumo, Thanks for stopping by my blog page after a considerable time. I hope you are doing fine. These colour cauliflowers are comparatively a new vegetable in this part of our world. The products are more costly than their white varieties. I have not yet tasted any of these coloured varieties. I intend to try the yellow one next winter when cauliflowers are available in the markets throughout our country. Take care of yourself, dear Glumo. Stay happy and cheerful.
