Esho Nipobone--A Monsoon Offering:

Photos of the first yields of fragrant Kadamba flowers of the Monsoon blooming in the compound of my residential home are posted below.

Kadam or Kadamba (Cadamba) is a tropical tree native to my homeland, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and other Southeast Asian countries. It is an evergreen tree with religious as well as cultural significance. The color of the kadam flower is red to orange and is scented too.

As mentioned above, Kadam also features in Indian mythologies and religions. The tree has been mentioned in the Sanatan Dharma's Bhagavata Purana. It is called "Parvati's tree" in Southern India. Most of us know about Lord Krishna and his relationship with Radha. They spent some time with each other under the sweet-scented shade of a Kadam Tree.
Theravada Buddhism says about a Kadam tree under which Sumedha Buddha achieved enlightenment.
The tree is also known as the "Nipo" tree in my country in Bengali.
If any reader wants to learn more about this tree and its flower, fruits, and economic values, the reader may look for them on the Internet.

Wow! Nice series of shots. I enjoyed seeing them.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Many years ago I lived in southern California and often went to the San Diego Zoo and would see many trees from your country as well as other countries.

It brought back good memories taking our daughters and visitors to the Zoo!

Koffla, my friend, the above few lines posted on the subject do not tell much about the Kadamba tree or its flower. I have refrained from touching on the cultural significance of the tree. Thanks for your comments. Stay cheerful always.

I enjoy reading your thoughtful and well-written blogs on different subjects on this site. Zoo plants/trees must be amazing things to look at along with other visitors and companions while visiting a famous zoo located in San Diego. I wish I could read a blog on such a visit written by a regular visitor to a Zoo like you. Abble, Although I have traveled a lot, I have never visited such a zoo. Be safe. Take care of yourself. I wish the best to both you and Alfie.

LOOK, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INTERESTING INFORMATION CONCERNING KRISNA AND BUDDAH. WE HAVE SUCH TREES HERE BUT I DID NOT KNOW THAT HAD RELIGIOUS CONNOTATIONS.

Archer, “Kadamba tree is mentioned in most Indian mythological and historical literature. The Kadamba tree is related to both Lord Krishna and Radha. It is believed that Krishna performed many of his divine leelas (acts) in Vrindavan under the canopy of such trees. He used to play with his friends around these trees in Vrindavan, holding the unique globular flowers of the tree.” I hope you are doing fine. Stay happy and cheerful always.

Thank you for the nice comment!

I still miss going to the Zoo and the nearest one is in or near Atlanta and we no longer have any desire to drive in Atlanta!

The drivers go like mad people!!!

I do not drive now. The validity of my driving license expired in the year 2020. I have not applied to renew it because I no longer intend to drive cars. The city of Dhaka, where I live, is now a crowded megacity. The city roads are not safe for driving for aged people like me.
Be safe. Stay happy.

Maudie, delighted reading your comments here. Thank you so much for your post. There was a time when I used to look for the blooming wildflowers in the gardens of our ancestral village home. It was a time of worldwide unrest. The divided human race was fighting each other throughout the entire world. The period was the time spread between 1937 to 1945. I was a kid then.
I hope you are well. Stay safe and cheerful.
