The Jacobin’s time in my home country. Pakra-Papia Isn't the bird resting on a tree branch somewhere in my country look striking? This bird is a seasonal visitor here in this part of the world and is mostly seen only during our summertime ( Monsoon) which is also its mating period. It comes here from Africa and flies back there right before our winter. The bird is known as Jacobin Cuckoo. Please don’t be surprised if I say that the bird drinks only rainwater. However, without rainwater, this bird can live for days. This species is widely mentioned in ancient Indian poetry as the chātaka. In Bengali, we call it "pakra-papia” Photo: Rabiul Hasan.

A clever migratory bird.

It is hard to take pictures of birds. They flit around too quickly and thus no photo. The other day I was trying to get one of a crow. He must have known I was watching him from the other side of the window. This is a nice one you posted and the history of the Jackobin Cuckoo.

Birds are such lovely little creatures. I love when they visit in the garden. Some have such pretty colouring too. Very nice photo and interesting post. Thanks for sharing it, Looklook.

YESTERDAY THERE WAS A REPORT ON THE TV NEWS SAYING THAT BIRDS THAT USUALLY MIGRAGATE FROM HERE TO AFRICA HAVE NOT DONE SO THUS FAR THIS FALL. IT IS VERY UPSETTING BECAUSE MANY COULD DIE OF HUNGER IF THEY STAY IN THE NORTHERN REGIONS. IN THIS AREA, SOME WOULD BE ABLE TO SURVIVE BECAUSE IT IS WARMER AND THERE IS RARELY SNOW ON THE GROUND SO THEY COULD FIND FOOD. AND YET SOME PEOPLE DENY CLIMATE CHANGE.

I have not seen the TV report about the yearly migration of birds from Europe to Africa as mentioned above by you. However, I think that these traveling birds might have changed their migration pattern for various reasons. One such reason might be climate change. Another may be the human impact on their summer habitats in Europe. Some of these migratory birds are endangered species. They may have found new regions to stay in during harsher winters in the European northern parts instead of going back to Africa this winter. Koffla, I see no reason to disagree with what you said about landscape and bird photography using kayaks. I agree that landscape and bird photographers need to be careful while taking such photographs using kayaks. Thanks, my friend, for your comment. Be safe.
