DIGNITY IS NOT NEGOTIABLE 'Dignity is not negotiable. Dignity is the honor of the family.' ----Vartan Gregorian (born April 8, 34 in Tabriz, Iran). An Armenian born in Iran, Gregorian moved to the United States at 22. He graduated with dual PhD from Stanford University. One morning at a Law College, when a new teacher for "Introduction to Rights" entered the classroom, the first thing he did was to ask the name of a student who was seated on the first bench: "What is your name?" " name is Juan, Sir." "Leave the classroom and I don't want to ever see you in class ever!" screamed the unpleasant teacher. Juan was bewildered. When he got hold of his senses, he got up quickly, collected his belongings and left the classroom. All were scared and angry; however nobody spoke anything. "Well, let's start the class," said the new teacher. "What purpose do the enacted laws serve?" We were afraid, but slowly gained confidence and we began to answer his questions. "So that there is order in our society." "No!" the teacher shouted. "So that people their wrong actions?" "No! Doesn't anybody here have enough brains to know the answer to this question?!" asked the teacher, sarcastically. "So that there is justice," said a girl timidly. "At last! One person who is not a complete moron! That's correct.... so that there is justice. And now, what is the use of justice?" All of us were extremely uneasy with his rude attitude. However, we continued trying to answer.... "To safeguard human rights." "Well, what more?" asked the teacher. "To differentiate right from wrong and to reward the good." "Ok, that's not bad. However, answer this question: Did I act correctly when expelling Juan from the classroom?" All were quiet, nobody answered. "I want a decisive and unanimous answer!" he shouted. "No!" we all replied in unison. "Then could you say I committed an injustice?" "Yes!" Then his voice softened and he asked, "And why did nobody do anything in that respect? So why do we need rules and laws if we don't have the necessary will to practice them? Each one of you has an obligation to do something when you witness an injustice. ALL of you! Do not stay quiet, never again! Go and call Juan," he said staring at me. On that day, I received the most practical lesson in course of Law. When we don't defend our rights, we lose our dignity, and dignity is not negotiable. source: Net. one of friends mailed it to me! |

I wonder what made you think that I would remove your above comments from this blog page of mine even when my other readers may consider your post as unrelated to the subject of the blog. As I am not an American, I do not bother whether Trump has been elected by majority popular American votes or not. However, I have since found out that Trump is the fifth person in U.S. history to become president while losing the nationwide popular vote. By the by, please be rest assured that I would not trash you or others who had voted Trump in as your President! Anyway, thanks for making me respond to your unwanted comments which should have been ignored!

Thank you Look, for this post!! If we ignore injustices because they aren't aimed at us, we are on a slippery slope to dictatorships. There are many examples in history.

Hello Look.......Wonderful blog . It is so true that when people ignore injustices that are not aimed at them in my opinion they are saying"that it is ok with me what you did or said"...........Example.......There are several really racist bloggers here and sometime they write some really ugly things about black and brown people. Some bloggers distance themselves from them and some bloggers go along with the ugliness and lies. They witness the injustice and say nothing. I sometimes read it and wonder where is their dignity? Creative Ideas.

It's amazing isn't it, in this day and age. Any time one person or group bullies others whether because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, social/financial level, etc.[For some, any reason in their head will do.], dignity is lost.

LOOK I HOPE YOU HAVE SEEN THE FILM "RICHARD JEWEL", A VERY INTERESTING STUDY OF INJUSTICE AND DIGNITY. I have not yet seen the film "Richard Jewell" that tells the story of a real-life security guard who saved thousands of lives from a bomb at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga. Was he not the great man who went on to be vilified in the press amid false reports that he was the terrorist responsible for the bomb? Thanks for telling me about the film that I intend to watch soon. Take care my friend and stay cheerful always as usual.

Delighted to read from you here on my blog page again after such a long time. I fully agree with what you have said about the racist bloggers who are accustomed to say ugly things about people who they dislike for absolutely no reason whatsoever excepting the color of their skins! Unfortunately, this blog of mine has attracted the attention of such a sick blogger who has no right to say that your comments on my blog has made him sick. I also pity those bloggers who distance themselves from such ugliness for obvious reason. Hope, you are having a wonderful time. Take Care always

When I see comments that I consider racist I generally hit the abuse button. I am not sure if it does anything, but calling the racists out doesn't do any good. They are ignorant and they will never be anything but ignorant. Sad to say many of them don't even realize what they post is racist.

Hello Look.....Your blog is very nice and informative for me. I think that there are some things that you take a stand on and say something to people who will understand your concerns and try to change themselves. However the folk like those who write the ugly hateful blogs are a different breed.......Hate is all that they have....I do not blame the folk who avoid them because I do also. .......We are of different religions but permit me to say........Proverbs 17 verse 12. Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.
