From Time Immemorial Prehistoric massacre in Kenya called oldest evidence of warfare The oldest evidence of human warfare has since been unearthed in Kenya! Scientists think it as the prehistoric massacre of humans by humans! The weapons that were used to massacre the fellow humans included arrows, clubs and stone blades. The Scientists found the fossils of the people massacred 10000 years ago on the shores of a lagoon in Kenya. The remains of 21 adults and 6 , most under age 6 from a Stone Age hunter-gather were unearthed at a site called Nataruk, 20 miles west of Lake Turkana in Northern Kenya. There were no older teenagers. Let us examine one by one what the Scientists unearthed at the site: They discovered a man’s skeleton with a sharp blade made of a volcanic glass called obsidian still embedded in his skull. Another person’s skull crushed by two blows apparently caused by clubs was found by them too on the site. The most striking discovery, according to me, was a woman in the last stages of pregnancy bound by her hands and feet. The victims also had projectile wounds to the neck and broken skulls, hands, knees and ribs. The evidence indicated that the massacred people were those who hunted animals, caught fish and gathered edible plants. They were slain in a premeditated attack by raiders, perhaps from another region. Upon analysis of the fossils, researchers found clear signs of death by violence. The attack was, " brutal, physical, lethal attack with the intention to kill those individuals who could put up a defense or mount a counter-attack, or who perhaps were of no use to them, whether it was a man or a very pregnant woman, too young or too old," The research results are bound to attract attention of those who believe that Man's inhumanity to man, is not a recent development. I believe that warfare has been part of the human experience from time immemorial! I wonder when humans would learn to live peacefully side by side with one another!! Interested readers may kindly check the journal Nature for details of the research. The research appeared in the journal Nature Happy reading: |

Hello, Puzzles, You are absolutely correct. We have not probably made any progress during last ten thousand years except that we have invented more efficient weapons that can massacre tens of thousands of people within minutes! Wonder, when we will learn to leave peacefully in this world!

I think we have evolved a little more than you think. Do you think pre-historic figures would have ever dreamed of actually walking on the moon? Fossil Thanks for your comments.
