Hot Chicken Soup That May or May Not Burn.............

Why is hot chicken soup likely to burn one’s mouth?

I like to take hot Chicken Soup, especially when I catch cold. It is not because my most intimate one living across the ocean had advised me to take it nearly three years before but to speak frankly , I always like to take hot chicken soup since I discovered long time ago how tasty it could be when I am a bit hungry!

However, I always wanted to know, would hot Chicken soup really burn my mouth more than any other kind of hot soup? My loved one could not reply. She had asked me to shut up and finish the soup before it turns cold!

So, you see even my loved one got annoyed with me and asked me to finish the hot chicken soup to get rid of the cold that I caught while walking through the park at night!

Therefore, I would earnestly request my SFF friends to help me to know the truth in this respect! Would any one come forward to explain why such thing happens? Is it for a fixed temperature or for a specific heat as well? Could any one please confirm that hot Chicken soup is more likely to burn my mouth than any other kind? Has the fat content in the soup anything to do with such phenomena?

Thanking everyone in anticipation!

I don't think it needs a specific temperature but the hotter you can handle it the better. What helps the cold is that the steam and heat help uclog your nasal and sinuses passages alleviating the discomfort by making it easier to breathe.

LookLook I don't it is specifically chicken soup that will burn your mouth. Any soup will do that if it is too hot. I have burned my mouth a number of times just because I tried to eat soup that was too hot. Spirit is right about the hot soup opening up your nasal passages so you can breathe easier. For some odd reason they always recommend chicken soup and maybe it is just because we all like it. Maybe others have theories on this.

Looklook ... When I was a little girl I remember mom would make her special chicken soup ... just for me ... it was so clear with just a few tiny chicken bits and tiny shell noodles floating on top ... She would spoon feed me and sing a song and it would cure my ailment ... In fact, all of us 4 children had their special soup to make us feel better ... Perhaps, it was her special touch ? With love ... Brigitte

Glad to read from you here again spiritwoman. You seem absolutely correct about the hot soup opening up nasal passages that helps easy breathing! So I must not be scared while eating hot chicken soup with a piece of either a cake or a dinner roll. Have a nice Sunday spiritwoman.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, Shartaun. I liked it very much to read your post! It explains why one must not take soup that is too hot!. It also tells me that I am not alone who frequently get his mouth burnt while eating hot chicken soup. May be , I shall have to take the risk of eating my chicken soup a bit hotter than normal as I like to have it that way! Thanks again Shartaun for your comments. Stay well and happy always.

Hello Brigitte.
I am really delighted to read from you here, Brigitte. Your post has taken me back to my childhood and reminded me also about my mother whom I loved more than anyone else in the family! She was everything to me. May be all mothers are like your mother, Brigitte! They know how to cure their sick Child ! Perhaps, it was more than special touch! It was her love for you and your other three sisters!! Thanks again Brigitte for your kind visit. Have a nice Sunday and take care. With best wishes and regards-look.

Looklook, thank you for this nice blog. What I wanted to say, is already said above. So, I just have to add a few words of mine. Everyone has his own taste concerning the heat of any soup. But usually one cannot take soup which is too hot for him to even taste or swallow. One should only take it at a temp which is convenient to him. That is: pleasantly hot, less hot or just warm according to his own taste. By the way it's the chinese who like their soup piping hot, because they have the habit of SLURPING ( making a loud sucking noise), Yak!! I don't like seeing and hearing this really.
Have a good day Looklook mbn and be happy too.
My best wishes to you.
Lisa.

Mott, hello,
What a pleasant surprise to read from you here on my blog page! Thank you so much for your kind visit and the post you have left for us to read and ponder upon too. While appreciating what you have stated may I tell you that your comment here represents all other mothers like you! A true mother would never explain to her child why hot chicken soup may burn his or her mouth but will always insist her child to take it for feeling better and strong. Thanks again Mott for your comment which may look short but very long and meaningful to all of us! Have a wonderful time. May God keep you always smiling! Warmest regards!

Hello MLLD Lisa.
I see no reason to disagree with your post left here on my blog on the topic under discussion! May be, some day in the near future, if I am not summoned to meet my creator , I shall be able to feel what is pleasantly hot, or less hot or just warm to find my own taste concerning the temperature of any soup. Until such time comes, I shall have to be careful about the over all temperature of my hot chicken soup so that it does not burn my mouth while eating it!
Meantime, I must thank you for your wonderful comments left here on for me to consider while taking hot chicken soup! Hope you had a wonderful Sunday and would enjoy the coming week cheerfully Lisa, mlld.
Wish you all the best and warmest regards.
